RE: Pitt's throwing a party July 1st for the ACC move.
Guys it was a joke. Just seems Pitt is the most excited out of three at this point. Point is I think everyone is excited, Pitt is just showing it in an.....interesting manner

24 of ND's 26 sports are joining the ACC completely and football will have a 5 game scheduling alliance with the ACC.
That is more than "half" membership.
80% X 5/8 + 20% = 50% + 20% = 70%
Thus, based on 80% football / 20% basketball split, Notre Dame is actually a 70% member (not a "half" member)... FWIW
Well, it is a 100% member in 24 out of its 26 sports.
It is a 0% member for hockey.
It is a 0% member for football, but has a five game scheduling alliance and a minor bowl alliance with the ACC.
I have no idea how that math works out.

FWIW, and I know that most know this but I see them incorrectly listed as a half member everywhere: ND is a full member with full privileges that doesn't participate in football. While this is not unlike Syracuse not participating in ACC baseball or Pitt not participating in men's lacrosse, it is obviously somewhat different since ND competes independently in a sport that the ACC sponsors. However, fielding a sport but not having it compete in the school's primary conference is not unprecedented. Off the top of my head, Miami did the exact same thing with baseball as a member of the Big East, but obviously ND has much more entanglement in ACC football than Miami ever did in Big East baseball. Providence also fields women's volleyball but withdrew it from the Big East.
Just for perspective, ND will compete in 22 ACC sports, and 24 if the ACC re-adds men's and women's fencing ( twitter page already exists). 22 sports is more than Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, NCSU, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Wake.

Throwing this party is also a marketing gimmick. Syracuse doesn't need a marketing gimmick in Syracuse, nor does ND need one in South Bend. In a large pro-sports dominated city, marketing becomes more important.
