A Thread Made WIth Good Intentions...
...That Will Probable Turn into A P-ing Match

It is human nature to think your situation is not as bad or is better than it really is. The schools that are going to the AAC feel the AAC is better and they are in a better situation. The schools in CUSA feel that the AAC is at best, marginally better and CUSA has a strong shot at overtaking it. It is all opinion and each side is entitled to it. For future AAC schools to come on the CUSA board arguing and pulling out "so called facts" to support their claim is counter productive. CUSA schools are entitled to their opinion and it is their board. If a guest came to your house and started ranting about how much better their house is, you'd think they were crazy and would react right? Increase the peace. Dueces.

Should I stay out of this one so it doesn't get hijacked by the usual Memphis trolls who do their best to push these things to Smack?

LAME.

Your post was essentially to say that the 'Murica 12 SUMBITCH Conference is better than CUSA and point out how people can think this.

RE: A Thread Made WIth Good Intentions...
Oh and for the record its been well documented on here and nationally what a complete FUBAR the supposed better situation has been from the beginning to the present. We here and nationally have been pointing that out and we've all been met with the usual replies of jealousy and the typical opinion response to the facts we've all presented. So again thanks for the lame thread where as usual some 'Murica 12 poster posts an opinion and expects something.

RE: A Thread Made WIth Good Intentions...
Wait, you admit they're a better conference, even if marginally, and yet you somehow think the CUSA will be better than them?

From my Charlotte perspective. you are getting us into FBS and you're better than the SunBelt, but I'm hoping you're just a stepping stone!

I look at it this way... The American Athletic Conference is made up of leftovers from an AQ conference and their choice of schools from the best of CUSA, MAC, and the Academies.

CUSA won't catch or surpass them because...
  • TELEVISION -- Their conference members will make more than twice what our members make in television money, and they will have more national broadcasts going forward than even the Big East has had to date. That type of exposure is huge for recruiting and perception.
  • FOOTBALL -- The AAC football champion will have AQ this year, the conference remains above us in the bowl pecking order, and AAC members will make more per school in football playoff money than those in the CUSA.
  • MONEY-- The AAC has $100-million in NCAA credits and exit fees piled up from former and exiting members that it will disperse to remaining and new members over five years. This will ensure that left-behinds and the newcomers are all seeing a BOOST!
  • BASKETBALL -- The AAC just announced their tourney is headed to Memphis and their commissioner said several large sponsors are forthcoming; and their women's tournament is in the hotbed of CT and has full sponsorship from the host Arena/Hotel/Casino (CHA-CHING), and they will likely be a 4 or 5 bid league while we will likely have one bid.

Personally, I'm looking forward to next season having schools like Louisville, Cincy, UConn, and Temple on the schedule...I have no ill will toward CUSA...as a founding member we hope it keeps on going strong...but I also don't feel any guilt about having pride in our new conference.

I feel the exact same way about the SBC, wish nothing but the best for all the teams there.
Don't exactly know why this thread was started? Did I miss something going down in the AAC board?

I believe, I could be wrong since I've only been reading message boards since shortly after Al Gore invented the internet, but I really really really do believe you just now threw the first smack down post in this thread and truthfully, even in light of the fact that you're a conference mate now and all, and memphis is just another leper ***** in a different leper conference, but it seems to be a bit of a habit for you.

C-USA 2.0 needed to stay together. That's all I will say on this matter.

You need to go visit with Yoda (the little greenish one) as you have much to learn tadpole. (#1 - all combined, once all television contracts were finalized and published there was only an average of about 275k more in television money for the aack teams).....lots of other fail in your list too.

As a super idiot I know likes to comment --- "Read more. Post less."
