I personally think Lebo's rotations have been $hit the last two years and that we could have won more by playing Kemp a lot more 2 years ago and Akeem more earlier last year. That said you can't argue with the overall direction of the program, or the talent he has brought in, or the sets he runs. We have had very little attrition, no thugery, and good APR grades too.
Lebo has taken over two really bad losing programs in ECU and Tennesse Tech that were both really really bad when he got there and hadn't won 20 games in a season in 50+ years so winning 23 at ECU and 28 at TT, in the first 3 or 4 years after taking over 8 and 10 win programs is impressive anyway you cut it.
He turned Chattanoga around and won 40 games in 2 years there, and took over a program in Auburn that was on probation when he got there from Cliff Ellis and won 24 games the year before he was released, which was second highest season total ever there, so he wasn't even that bad there. They have been a LOT worse without him, even with a new arena to recruit too.
For any things I dislike about his rotations the guy clearly still turns bad teams around in a big way. His only issue is he's always been climbing the coaching ladder and taking over bad jobs and he has never stayed in one place before long enough to take the next step after he has rebuilt them into a winner.

Wait, this thread is about ECU? I thought it was about the NC Legislature. Which, as a native North Carolinian, I should have every right to express my opinion.

But, not to sling at ECU fans just cause you feel like it. Again this isn't the smack forum.
I am on record disapproving of ECU padding their schedule with what should be exhibition games (non-Div I teams), and I don't have any real respect for the CBI/CIT tournaments, so I know I risk coming off as insincere here but I do want to congratulate the Pirates. ECU played in a tournament with a bunch of other teams at a similar level and won it. Making a run all the way through a tournament is tough for any team so congratulations.

Any post season play is a good thing for players and coaches to prepare for next season, too. As ECU supporters we could care less for those who think otherwise but do us a favor and keep the hate to yourself and out of this tread. Question.....just for information what post season basketball tournament did 49ers play? As far as padding schedules have you looked at your football schedule.

They bowed out in the first round of the NIT with a 9 point loss to Providence, who went .500 in Big East play.

The NIT, and no, we wouldn't celebrate that tournament either.
The goal for both ECU and Charlotte should be NCAA or bust. Anything else is considered a failure.

If Charlotte had won the NIT Tournament Championship last season, Niner fans would have been ecstatic. Of course making the NCAA Tournament is the goal... but as it stands now, only 4 teams in D1 basketball get to end their seasons with a win. It's always good to be one of those.

Yep as a bottom half seed, and lost in the first round to a lower ranked team than a couple of the teams we beat in the CIT. It took an epic meltdown by Richmond just to get them there too. We were one of the top seeds in the CIT, not like there was a lot of difference. The reason the CIT even exist is because the NIT cut it's field and added auto bids , a few years ago we'd have been in the NIT as well but either way there wasn't much difference and I sure wouldn't have traded how we finished the season with how they collapsed and limped to the end.
.....and no one on earth would trade going to a conference with UConn, Cincy, Memphis etc with where they are heading down too and we are already having as much success the last 3 years under Lebo both in recruiting and winning. Now we got the better conference chip we've never had over them ever to sell as well.

Inaugural football season =/= 48th basketball season.
We're not using those D-II and D-III wins to brag about having the "highest three-season win total in program history".

Indeed, and I'd take that over a CIBTI championship any day. Times one thousand.

You are 100% correct. By the way, no one but you boasts about and end of season RPI. This season was considered a failure by most Charlotte fans since we didn't make the NCAAs. And yes, I'd rather be in a league with the teams you mentioned from a purely basketball viewpoint. However, when we were in a league with those teams we beat them. ECU is back with them, which is great, but ECU didn't beat them before so not sure why anyone would think ECU will beat them this go around. Those teams didn't help recruiting before. Only think I can think of is you are pinning all this on Lebo. Going by his resume, not sure I would do that.
I wish ECU the best as I have multiple family members that went there and grew up not far fro Gville.

None of those tournaments should count more than 1 non d-1 win on your record. That would have put ECU in a very poor position. And ECU was ranked ~100th going into postseason play. That would never have been a guarantee to get into the NIT.
And again, this is the best statistical evidence we have of which team was better last season:
Charlotte didn't suck just because they played in a tough conference, just like ECU wasn't great just because they won a tournament full of mediocre teams.
Not many teams get to end their season in an exciting game, walk off shot, on a play like this in front of 11k fans, on national TV, over a 30 win team.

I knew one of you would use this garbage argument.
Apples to oranges, you've had a basketball team for 48 years. If we are still playing D2 teams in football 48 years from now I'll kill myself if I'm not already dead.
My question is will SJ still be using the December excuses when we beat you in January, February, or March this year?

No one outside of this board knows about it. I don't even know what CIT stands for.

False.
NCAA, NIT, CBI, CIT... and who else? Are you referring to teams that win their last regular season game and don't get invited to their conference tourney? Otherwise, who else would end with a win?
