See? You get it!
Yep, I use to coach Little League and girl's youth softball. 04-cheers
I used to umpire Little League games. You think you had it bad? Just try being an umpire. Those kids mothers cussed me out worse than any of the fathers... 03-banghead

No. But I did make a team forfeit a game one time because a kid's mother was so abusive she was making all the kids embarrassed, and ruining the game for everyone in the stands. She thought her son, who wasn't a good ball player at all, was the greatest thing since Babe Ruth. I told her to shut up or her child's team would forfeit the game - and she didn't. So I called the game off (top of the 1st inning too) and went to my car to load my gear in the trunk...

As I was finishing up, she came to my car with her husband to protest. I thought I was going to end up in a fight with her husband. But he actually apologized to me, and then started giving his wife holy hell. I've always wondered if their marriage survived that argument...

I had call time out in a game because our pitcher's father was making his son and two of my other players cry, because of his verbal abuse. I called time out. Walk over to the fence and ask him if he want to starting coaching the team. He shut up after the other parents started clapping. It shut him up for the rest of year. I did have an anger mother jump me about her son not getting to play 3B and SS, it took 15 minutes, but she finally realized the danger of playing those positions, when you can protect yourself with the glove. I saw one boy while I was coaching have a ball cut the tip of his tongue off and another get part of his bottom lip cut off. The other coach and I were able both times to but the parts in cups of ice and they were successfully reattached. Most parents never think coaching decisions are also safety decisions.

TV is ok. Noone watches it when its on.

Incorrect. Soccer is going to become bigger and bigger whether people like it or not because so many kids have played it in the last decade. Already starting next year all of the EPL games iwll be broadcast in the US, and even all of Mexico's National Team games and some league games are shown now. The US national team games have been getting big ratings. Soccer is growing in popularity because it's such an easy sport to get your kids involved in.

They have been saying this since the mid 70's. Simply isn't going to happen.

soccer has already passed you by. 2010 World cup, USA vs England (12 million)group stage, USA vs Ghana (13 million) 2nd round world cup matches in non-prime-time slots had more viewers each than any of the NBA finals in prime-time slots so far this year, the women's team had more viewers in their world cup final (18 million...NFL average) than the NBA finals. Those USA world cup games are getting closer and closer to the NFL average rating of 18 million viewers. Even qualifying matches in non-prime-time slots are getting more viewers than prime-time baseball or hockey and that is only from the ESPN/ABC ratings, it doesn't include American spanish speaking stations. The only sport soccer will probably not pass is football.
