I hope that no one at UMD considers having this facility on campus as something worthy of being bragged about.

I'm assuming that lots of these types of facilities and programs exist. But they're not in the awkward position of being on the front page.

I was being a smart a$$; this is nothing unusual, of that I'm sure. That does not mean that I have to like it...

Not surprising. One of my initial arguments for why the Big Ten would be drooling for Maryland to join is because of how tight Maryland is to many Federal Agencies.

If memory serves me right, Missouri is the only school to actually have an on-campus nuclear reactor... I thought that was kind of over the top too.
