Any Expansion Rumors?
Have you guys heard if you'll expand to 14 again?
How would you feel about upgrading another FCS program like Delaware, James Madison or one of the Dakota's?
How would you feel about trying to get Army in as a FB only since it is becoming harder and harder for independents to survive. That way all the other sports have 12 members.
Like everyone last year I loved watching some MACtion on weeknights.

RE: Any Expansion Rumors?
Its very slow so I'll bite.
Three important things going on now...
-UMASS accept full membership or leaving the MAC.
-Is the MAC bluffing with the GOR to get UMASS or more money?
-Finally was have to see if ESPN agrees to anything drastically different with the rumored contract negotiations.
Bonus
- After the ESPN new deal is done do we go after secondary rights with FOX?
I do not think the MAC has to do anything at 13 unless the NCAA tells us we need even divisions.

RE: Any Expansion Rumors?
I remember as a kid giving up something for the 40 days of Lent.
I'm giving up posting on expansion candidates for 40 days.
I think I have 35 more days of self-imposed posting silence. :)

Is the TV contract up soon? Can you guys negotiate with other networks like Fox?
I know you guys don't NEED to go past 13 but uneven divisions means conference scheduling headaches. Isn't that why you guys went with UMass in the first place? I know i'm an "outsider" here but i am sincerely curious and it is the slow season.

The MAC has scheduled with 13 for a while and have gained experience, so I doubt it's much of a a headache...I'm pretty sure its cake for a decent IT programmer...fans seem more concerned about the odd number than the folks running the conference...

Tell the Big East to add VCU, St. Louis, Richmond, Dayton, Mason, Davidson and help us get this over with and move on.

The first four are possible, but no way the last two get an invite.

VCU stands for Virginia Commonwealth, not Virginia Christian ( a la TCU) ... since the New Big East seems to want to stay away from public schools, VCU seems out as well.
SLU and either Dayton or Richmond seems the most common guesses. It wouldn't be surprising if they hold off sorting that all out until after they have hired a commissioner and set up offices and such.

I always thought that Duquesne would get more consideration for the Big East. I understand they haven't been terribly successful recently, but they are a perfect fit institutionally and geographically.

They have been horrendous. Play matters in some regard, it's not all about institutional fit. Thats why VCU has a chance.

RPI matters for a BBall first conference. Remember these are the same schools that were outraged that Tulane was added to the Old Big East as an all-sports member. And given that they are a conference created on the promise of network-revenue, keeping expansions in-footprint is not exactly their first priority.
