Don Haskins, Nate "tiny" Archibald, Bob Beamon and Don Maynard

Haskins
Archibald
Jim Barnes
Charlie Brown

My bromance with Barnes continues. He, along with Archibald, might be the best player in UTEP history. I think he's the most important. I'm not convinced that 66 would have happened if he didn't come to TWC in 62.

Charlie Brown, for those of you who might not know, a pre-Haskins basketball player who was the first integrated athlete to play in the former Confederacy. Rushmore is for something historic, so that why I'd put him there.

Beamon and Maynard are probably the other two choices. I think most of their accomplishments came after there UTEP careers, though.

Lengyel, Chaump, Donnan, Pruett

and inscribed underneath said mountain

"From Ashes to Glory"

Lengyel helped rebuild it, and the other three made it special. Having players on there is nice, but without the vision of those coaches we would not have been what we are, or, more aptly, were.

WOW, good thread.

I will have to think about this one for a while.

And would it be limited to athletes or are coaches and administrators in the mix as well?

UTSA:

Lynn Hickey
Larry Coker
Eric Soza
(and the last one is a difficult pick)
Triston Wade

Wade is one of my favorite players and he made a ton of plays for UTSA. He finished the year with 74 tackles, 4 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries. He made the all WAC team. He seemed to always be around the ball.

As far as players, yes. If you include coaches, I'd take Pruett over Brown.

I refuse to accept these terms.

Bonnie Cone
Dale Halton
Mac Everett
Jerry Richardson

It's not about Championships or fame, it's about the fact that we wouldn't be where we were today without those people. We're a very young University with an even younger athletics program, and our Mount Rushmore is built by those that built our facilities and programs.

Besides, the most prominent athlete to come from Charlotte fosters nothing but bitterness towards us. We'll send him a wallet-sized photo of our Mount Rushmore.

For Tulsa I would select Glen Dobbs, Jerry Rhome, Howard Twilley, and Steve Largent.
