The endowment?

could be. They have been looking into outsourcing the management of the endowment and issued an RFP last year.

In my option this has nothing to do with the endowment and everything to do with leaving the CAA. "Adversely" is a strong word to use. What could adversely affect the endowment other than letter Uncle Bernie manage it?

If we were officially chatting about burning ties with the CAA and thus jeopardizing our NCAA money, well that would adversely affect JMU. There would be no way to mitigate the loss of those funds.

Building the stadium was to go FBS, we all know that was the long term goal.

This is a very encouraging find for those of us who still believe there is a chance we announce July 1.

I was looking at this way...The bov/admin knows they bungled moving at least football and it will not be received well by the heinous group known as alumni and could "adversely effect the finances" i.e. the endowment so they discussed personal relocation options in a closed session...."hey, Kings Mill seems nice."

Maybe they were alluding to the fact that less and less people are going to show up to see FCS football and it's gonna be hard to pay the bonds they issued to build a 25,000 seat football stadium and scheduling St. Francis.

Relax folks. Every time a public body goes into closed session they have to give a reason based on an exemption granted by law. This is boilerplate language straight from FOIA. It could mean anything.

We are not going to get an annoucement about moving up to FBS until at least after this football season. Sucks, but JMU is waiting for the right opportunity... I hope we don't miss the boat.

I don't know what is going to happen but can anyone out there explain how silence from the admin in July could be a good idea on their part? I can't see how President Alger could stand in front of any group and not get "end of summer" chants.

Are we going to find out in the Fall that Bourne forgot to mail the engagement letter to Carr?

I hate the conflicting info on here. The "right opportunity" is the AAC, and that is a complete pipe dream. Our admin can't be that foolish....

How did you go from hearing something in early April to hearing something maybe in September? Do you trust your source?

I just said to my wife, "lawyers choose words carefully and he said end of summer." Her response, not trying to be funny, "he carefully chose not to be year specific."

So where there is smoke there is fire IMO. I do not think we go to the Sunbelt, except as a football only. I think our most likely destination is CUSA in addition to a current member of the Sunbelt of a western (relative to us) geographic footprint. Do not rule out the MAC either but that is dependent upon what UMass does as well.

This lines up exactly with my thoughts

- The western CUSA school is Arkansas State
- The MAC is talking with UMass, Delaware, and JMU.
- The MAC may be interested in all three and holding at 15 for 2 years until a #16 becomes available and ready (possibly Stony Brook or if further realignment shakes Marshall, Temple, or Army loose)
- MAC may only want 14, then UMass picks Delaware and JMU goes CUSA or SBC football-only
- Or JMU prefers CUSA, gets invite, and Delaware becomes #14
- All of these conferences and schools including SBC backup options like Missouri State and Liberty are waiting on UMass/MAC and CUSA to make a decision
- Western CUSA schools and Marshall are not keen on JMU or expanding in general.

what makes you think Marshall is not keen on JMU? because a Marshall fan on a message board is not keen on JMU? or some hack reporter who thinks MU is something more than they really are?
