If you must take a drug test to get a paycheck, shouldn't you be required to take one to receive a welfare check ? Thoughts.

Most people don't have to take a drug test to get a paycheck.

Some jobs require them to get hired, my guess is MG is making a broad statement for the purpose of his point.

"Welfare check" has to be defined before this question is answered.

RE: Fair is Fair
While fair, I don't know how much of an expense it would add to an already expensive social program. Besides, most of the able-bodied working age people getting a welfare check have a tendency to be somewhat of a nuisance anyway. They aren't going to "act right", and comply with very much. Also, they aren't going to see the error of their ways if they lose their check and will probably just start stealing. So I've given up on the idea of accountability for this segment of the population. And to feel a little less aggravated about the situation, I just tell myself that their check is a convenience fee for me not having any dealings with them.
