Thoughts on a bowl in Bermuda?
What if you eliminated a bowl or 2 in some unattractive cities in the rust belt and added an east coast version of the Hawaii bowl in Bermuda? Easy 2 hours from everywhere on the east coast.

Going to Hawaii doesn't require a passport (note: somewhere between 60 - 65% of US residents don't possess a passport). The Customs change requiring a passport for travel to/from Canada effectively killed the Toronto Bowl. Add in the fact that Hawaii has a local base of college fooftball fans that Bermuda presumably doesn't. Interesting out of the box thinking, but I don't think it's feasible.

So you're saying we need to annex Bermuda? I'll get Condi to start making some calls.

RE: Thoughts on a bowl in Bermuda?
Love the idea! I think it may work better as an opening week "Kickoff" game, though, for the reasons LostInSpace outlined. Fans would need as much time as possible to handle passport/time off work issues. If you are going to Bermuda, it would likely turn into a 5 to 7 day vacation for many. It would probably be hard to get big time programs to give up a home game's worth of revenue, so matching up attention starved fan bases that would travel could be a great experience. I'm thinking about schools like East Carolina, South Florida, Central Florida, Southern Miss, Marshall, MTSU, WKU. SMU, Ohio... I'm just listing AAC and C-USA, aren't I? Fine, this is the new AAC/C-USA Kickoff Classic. All those schools want to show that they can put out a good product and travel... here's your chance.

Well, I think ECU has already proven that, but the others can take a shot at it. I think an AAC/ACC opening weekend matchup would be good. I can see close to Bermuda schools like ECU and Maryland going at it. Call it "The Battle for the Atlantic"

Uh, isn't August hurricane season? That's a bad time to schedule anything in the Atlantic. Plus games at Hawaii can be used as an extra game, while regular season games at Bermuda count against the 12 game limit.

Their stadium holds 8500. Puerto Rico has no passport issues and has a couple of stadiums that hold 22,000.

Estadio Loubriel, a soccer stadium, in Puerto Rico seats between 22k-23k. It's the largest stadium in PR, located in Bayamon, outside of San Juan. It's pretty small, but the stadium is in the process of being renovated. Home to the Puerto Rico Islanders, a professional team in the NASL (One level below MLS). If done right a bowl could likely do well there.

Wow. I had no idea Bermuda was so big. It looks like it's about a hundred times the size of Long Island on that map. It looks like its poupulation should be about 65 million, not 65,000.

It seems like a great idea. If you can do a bowl in Hawaii you can do a bowl in Bermuda.

Imagine a magnifying glass over the island, and you'd get the picture...

Puerto Rico has rum factories. Bermuda has old people in funny shorts.

Not to mention that they picked up and moved Baltimore and DC to Roanoke Rapids, and Charlotte is now in Fayetteville.

one other thing, burmuda is by no means a party island. swim suits are for the beach only. once you leave the sand you are expected to cover up. proper attire is required in all pubs and resturants. most stores close at 5p. night life is next to nothing. they want golfers, not college football fans.

Restart the Bacardi Bowl in Puerto Rico. National Stadium seat 24,000 and no passports needed.

Best idea, good sponsorship. I flew down there last year for $200, had a great time.

Plus blender drinks need bananas. 02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana
