The ACC was not an Option
Calder said the Blue Jays considered other conferences as well, but there were no serious talks with the Atlantic Coast Conference.

"The ACC wasn't an option," Calder said. "I had tried to reach them and did not hear anything back from them. My assumption is that because they do not allow non-full time affiliate members or associate members, it really wasn't an option."

I guess our move was made more on the down low than I ever imagined.

Notre Dame is a full member of the ACC not an affiliate or associate member. That matters when it comes to voting privileges.

I guess when the Big East realized that JH was going to join the B1G they went and pulled the trigger on Denver.

Yes ~ as I noted at the time, Big Ten LAX getting started would explain the interest from both sides ~ the New Big East needing a 6th in the 2015 season and the ECAC being down to 5 in the 2015 season.

I would say "full member" rather than full member and think it makes a difference because of the two main sports, Notre Dame still retains some autonomy with their football program.

I think it was a mistake on the ACC's part. Oh well...the ACC is still without peer the best Lax league. JHU will still want/need to play mid atlantic teams.
