Why is Perrot not playing? Just too much to ask a catcher to play four games in a regional, or is it something else?

It seems to me that his defensive skills are especially needed against Oregon, but I'm honestly not up on Kopycinski's capabilities, so that's not a knock on him.

Injured...took a ball off his lower leg the other night.

HUGE loss-- both offensively and, especially, defensively. Time for Hunter to play the hero and show he belongs.

Must say I'm a bit surprised it's now Skyler behind the plate, as his bat is certainly better.

Ko has more time at C than Skyler…

Is he out of the game completely or just out of the starting lineup? Any word on how serious injury is? I guess I shouldn't be worrying about his availability for the SR until after the win tonight.

Kopycinski was the best defensive catcher in the state coming out of HS and a 2-time Area Code participant -- obviously there's a big jump from HS to college, but defense is his calling card. We should be OK here.

Loving this thread in retrospect . . .

In the worst prediction of all time (apart from the guy who said that Horton was outcoaching Graham), I predicted last fall that Hunter K would beat out Geoff P for the catching job.

Of course Geoff has had a spectacular season and perhaps has caught more innings in one season than any catcher in school history.

Nevertheless, I feel a wee wee bit vindicated by Hunter's effort tonight.
