I am told UAB knew. They had sponsors last time they participated. Someone dropped the ball. I find it funny UAB was contacting them to find out why not this year.

Per Hallman in my exchange he admitted that both coaches had sponsors last year and that both backed out due to prior commitments.

I wonder if this is why they were not asked this year. Then when UAB asked they were told no room and now they are trying to clean up the mess. I wonder if they assumed both would not play.

Just asking the question. Maybe UAB dropped the ball. Maybe they were not invited.

I bet they are in it next year either way after this. Lol.

Sure does ruin a good thing to complain about though.

The Regions Tournament is a fund raising effort for the Children's Hospital so sponsors for participants are part of the funding. I'm sure UAB has knowledge and understanding of the process for its coaches. I wish it had been handled by all concerned in a more complete and successful manner so that our UAB coaches would be invited and play in the pro-am day for the event. Our school would definitely benefit from the publicity. Now we may have to deal with the public thinking UAB doesn't care to be a part of this event.

who didn't show the sponsors or the coaches. if the coaches didn't there is no excuse

I think that McGee's golf tournament is next Monday,,, Anybody playing in it this year?? I couldnt because of other committment.

I have religious objections to golf.

Good guys win. They are about to announce that Coach Haase is now playing in the pro-am. Thanks to everyone who complained.

Again thanks to everyone who stood up and said something from twitter to Facebook to e-mails to phone calls. Hallman spent Friday doing spin control and they kept getting inundated not only from the general public but Fox 6, CBS 42, ABC 33/30, Al.com, and even radio, (I thought they didn't care), WJOX, and WSPZ. Bottom line was the UAB coaches were not invited and when UAB inquired they did not have a spot. They received pressure and found a spot for at least one of our coaches. For the record we had sponsors last year and had them lined up this year.

Oh yes and thanks to the sponsors as always.
