I'm pretty sure the appropriate response here should be: Dude, you bought a Zune?

Considering at the time all the itunes DRM and lockdown the Zune was a easy rip from cd into .wma and transfer over to Zune. Burn a cd when you want. Also, at 80gb is had the storage I wanted.

RE: If my Zune is dead, where do I go from here?
bringing this back from the dead again....

Is ipod the only choice? I have looked at the tablet route but to get one with 64GB puts me at a screen too large to fit in my pocket for mobile audio use. The expandable memory on the cell phone route ends up being back loaded with data plans that cost me more than I want to spend a month for mobile internet.

Off the top of my head...

$230 160gb ipod
$300 64gb ipod with wifi for streaming

Are ipods/itunes still a pain in the ass with DRM even if you have the cds? As I recall in the past itunes really locks down content for burning cd's out of your content. If I got into buying ALBUMS via Itunes the DRM would lock that down even further where I couldn't put it on physical media.

If anyone could clear that up for me I would appreciate it.

I can copy any song from iTunes onto my 10-year old iPod mini,
This includes iTunes purchases, CD files… pretty much all mp3s.

It’s possible I converted some of that music with SmartConverter.

I've used an iPod since 2006. I could put music on my phone, but when I put my earphones in, that's me time. I don't want to be disturbed by an email, text, or call.

iPod is for people who are secretly into the BDSM experience of iTunes for Windows and hate freedom and love DRM.

Sansa + Amazon MP3
Or (insert Android device here) + Amazon MP3

Or if you're a real audiophile ..... Fiio X3 and buy FLAC tracks (but it can play mp3 as well).

I rip all my cds in Windows Media Player. I was never that into ipods and what not.

Anyone got any suggestions? If its not large enough to hold all of my music then then I am not even interested.

That sucks. I'm listening to mine right now. It was a great platform, but a shame MS was running it.

I honestly don't have a recommendation, but am watching this thread because I know my day is coming. The thing about iPods... they sound like **** to me.

I have to have separate devices as well. I can't stand my jams getting interrupted with phone calls, emails, etc.

There are Sansa's at 64GB of storage? My current cd collection has me at 30GB. A 32 gig player is cutting it too close I think for the lifespan of the product.

Yes ... if they don't have models with on board that high, some Sansas have a MicroSD expansion. You can then drop in a 64 GB MicroSD.

the Sansa's I saw had up to 8GB internal but expandable but, it looked like most peaked at a listed 32GB.

You can upload your music to Google Play. https://support.google.com/googleplay/an...5570?hl=en

You can also upload your music to Amazon Cloud Player. https://www.amazon.com/ap/signin?_encodi...amzn_cpweb

With each, you can play your music through an app on your smart phone. You will be using data because the music is not on your phone.

I use iTunes to store my music and have so for many years. I stopped fighting technology and drank the Kool-Aid.

Fact: 87% of Zune users lament the discontinuing of Zima.

Any tablets out there under 7" that can take a 64GB sd card?

And

What kind of music player could I run on it for my collection already in .wma?

It seems all the decent 7" models go up to 32GB on extra SD cards.... I'm already at 30gb in music...

I don't think they make tablets smaller than 7"

If you're still looking for a Zune replacement, try this:

64 gig expandable to 192 gig

http://www.sears.com/mach-speed-trio-ste...ckType=G13

Up to 32 GB

http://www.sears.com/visual-land-prestig...ckType=G15

Up to 64 GB

With these prices, I am somewhat interested even if trhey have a 7" screen. The Samsungs (and probably the best) are @ $150 and a little much for me to digest when all I really want it for is a music player.

Also, what Android based app can I use to play .wma of that micro sd card?

As I have said before, 32GB is borderline and 64GB is preferred.

Also, how about this, and it is at THE UPPER END OF WHAT I WOULD CONSIDER:
http://www.sears.com/toshiba-excite-7c-7...ckType=G16

goes up to 128.... and a Toshiba, which would be a better name brand IMO.

Well, after looking at the reviews.... I might need to consider the Toshiba more... lots of rough reviews on the screens and the slow downs with the cheaper units.

Not sure I understand the success rate...

That said, I got that Toshiba 7" tablet and it can go up to 128gb on a micro sd but I bought a 64gb. Haven't transferred my music over to it yet.
