That should be "any" and not "in".

This year's schedule....
Date Opponent Location Time
Saturday, Sept. 2 Kentucky Louisvlle, KY TBA
Saturday, Sept. 9 at Temple Philadelphia, PA TBA
Saturday, Sept. 16 Miami(FL) Louisville, KY TBA
Saturday, Sept. 23 at Kansas State Manhattan, KS TBA
Friday, Oct. 6 vs. Middle Tennessee State Nashville, TN 8:00 PM
Saturday, Oct. 14 Cincinnati Louisvlle, KY TBA
Saturday, Oct. 21 at Syracuse Syracuse, NY TBA
Thursday, Nov. 2 West Virginia Louisville, KY 7:30 PM
Thursday, Nov. 9 at Rutgers Piscataway, NJ 7:30 PM
Saturday, Nov. 18 USF Louisville, KY TBA
Saturday, Nov. 25 at Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, PA TBA
Saturday, Dec. 2 Connecticut Louisville, KY TBA

This years schedule is listed above. We will have plenty of games on Saturday, unlike our days in CUSA when we played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The games with times listed will all be televised by ESPN along with the UCONN game. We expect ESPN College Game Day to be here for the Miami game but it has not been announced yet.
I hope this helps.
CJ
BTW the game in Nashville is for recruiting purposes. It also gives Louisville fans living in the South an opportunity to see the Cards in person. We have plans to play OSU in Cincinnati in the next few years as well.

I don't think y'all ever had more than three non-Saturday games in the same season while in C-USA, did you?

The Friday game in Nashville I think we could do without but other than that its the best schedule we've had in a decade as far as the dates are concerned. Couple that with 9-10 of the games on national television and you can't complain.

Whats Memphis' schedule looking like?

Yeah we did. Multiple times. We were the most televised program in the league. How many CUSA games to you remember being featured on Saturdays post the FOX deal ?

I took a look at our football schedules for the past 4 years and here is how it breaks down....

2002 (CUSA) 5 Saturday games 6 Non-Saturday games 54%
2003 (CUSA) 8 Saturday games 4 Non-Saturday games 33%
2004 (CUSA) 6 Saturday games 5 Non-Saturday games 45%
2005 (Big East) 8 Saturday games 3 Non-Saturday games 27%

As L-Yes pointed out Louisville was the most televised team in CUSA and was tied for that last year in the Big East. All of the games not played on Saturday were telecast by ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU, 40%.

I didn't realize that y'all played that many non-Saturday games while in C-USA. Personally, I don't mind one or two weeknight games per season. However, playing 5 or 6 is too many.

Looking good. Currently, all of our games are scheduled for Saturday. However, it's likely that at least one (and possibly more) will be moved for TV. I expect a 4th straight bowl game this season and I won't be shocked if we have a 10 win season.

I took this years schedule and added what changes we expect or have heard rumors about.

Sunday, Sept. 3 Kentucky Louisvlle, KY ESPN
Saturday, Sept. 9 at Temple Philadelphia, PA Local Only
Saturday, Sept. 16 Miami(FL) Louisville, KY ABC / ESPN
Saturday, Sept. 23 at Kansas State Manhattan, KS ESPN / Fox
Friday, Oct. 6 vs. MTSU Nashville, TN ESPN2
Saturday, Oct. 14 Cincinnati Louisvlle, KY Local Only
Saturday, Oct. 21 at Syracuse Syracuse, NY ESPN / ESPN2
Thursday, Nov. 2 West Virginia Louisville, KY ESPN
Thursday, Nov. 9 at Rutgers Piscataway, NJ ESPN
Saturday, Nov. 18 USF Louisville, KY Local Only
Saturday, Nov. 25 at Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, PA Local Only
Saturday, Dec. 2 Connecticut Louisville, KY ESPN

Notes:
Kentucky has been played Sunday before Labor Day on ESPN for years.
Miami ...Rumor is ESPN College Game Day here for that.
Kansas State...ESPN May pick-up but Big 12 has contract with Fox
Syracuse...Our last 2 games at Syracuse have been on ESPN

Right now I am saying local only on Temple, UC, USF, and Pitt. It is however not out of the question that the coneference games could be picked up by ESPN for Big East Game of the Week Broadcasts. I wouldn't look for Temple to be on National TV because it won't be much of a game.

Believe Va Tech and Louisville have had more ESPN weekday games than any other teams in the Nation.

Both schools used these normally ONLY College Game on TV Nights to help promote their program.

Believe Va Tech has a record 16 or 17 weekday ESPN Games...over the past 10 years or so. Believe UL was right with them over the past 3-5 years.

Bottom line...playing on weekday nights when they are normally the ONLY game in town (vs playing on Saturday...when over 55 plus games are usually going on), has helped both of those programs in recruiting and national exposure.

That's why other schools are trying to be the "next" VT or UL...and use available weekday games to their advantage.

KL

PS. One of the first programs to try and "sell themselves on TV" was FSU under Bowden...who use to tell the TV Networks that FSU would play any game, home or away, at anytime, as long as it was on TV.

In a fun interview one-time...reporter asked Bowden about the start time for a TV Game in the early 80's...and was told game that a 4:00 game was picked up for TV...Bowden replied..."Great! Is that AM or PM?"

As for the game in Nashville, I would look for at least one of these regional games every season or two. Our games were broadcast on local radio for the first time in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Nashville last season and did surprisingly well. I would look for a match-up in Indy against Purdue and one in Cincinnati against OSU in the near future. (I don't know how the Big East feels about Louisville stepping into another member school's market but these games are being pushed by NSM that also handles marketing for the conference.) All of this is being done to grow the Louisville brand. Officals at UofL know that Louisville fans will travel in large numbers to any of these cities and pack the stadiums for the contests. I think Louisville has taken a cue from ND and maybe getting a jump on them, I haven't see the Irish schedule for this season, with these neutral site games.

That's fine and dandy but make it a Saturday. Most folks have to put in a day at work on Fridays and the 2 1/2 hour trip to nashville for fans out of the metro will be pushing it.

There is no doubt our AD relished the weeknight spots. Hell, CUSA built Thursday Night Football. No one else wanted to touch weeknight games with a 20 foot pole until they figured out the exposure it granted programs was immense. Suddenly the ACC's marquee matchups are thursday night affairs.

Well I don't know if this matters but there is no school in Louisville the Friday of the MTSU game so we are leaving Thursday night. I would advise to get your priorities in order;-) and miss work for the football game. But seriously, I would look for the next ones to be scheduled for Saturdays.
