See, that's the issue with some of you CUSA boys. Stuck in the past looking at a program in a snapshot in time and failing to look at the foundation and a program's ceiling.
successful conferences all over have picked schools with no past, no success but with high ceilings and been proven correct with there additions
IE - South Florida. JMU beat the snot out of USF in there last year of IAA ball. But you could see the ceiling was high for USF and having them was a success for the Big East and will be good for the AAC.
No, I just look at our football lineup and see that its very weak. We need a proven commodity or a fast riser.

USF was also in CUSA 1.0...
look there's no room in the inn... CUSA may pick you up after the next round of realignment, but even the Sun Belt doesn't want JMU.
Yep. Correct. they were
and actually, Sun Belt is BEGGING us to join. Why do you think they put off adding a 12th team for another year?

maybe it's because of the constant knocking of these schools by a bunch of make believe elitist schools who, in the words of Hannibal Lecter, are "not more than one generation from poor white trash", aka - the FCS.
or in your case, you haven't even played a game and you're going to talk down on JMU, ULL and/or stAte?
It's be ok to hear it from ECU fans or even SoMiss fans. They've actually DONE something over time, and have excellent support. Not just one good year here or there. that's why we show up.
oh, and also to educate you about potential future conference mates.
a big NO! to expansion. Unless we're pulling in some schools from the AAC or the MWC, I say no more expansion.

Where did I talk down about any of those schools? Please show me. I simply stated every time there is a thread about expansion or the lack of expansion, the thread gets ruined by smack talk by fans who aren't in CUSA.

well join, cuz your team ain't getting into the CUSA.
Something like 10 of the 14 schools in CUSA were once in the SBC. If this is your goal you have to come up through the ranks to make it here. The SBC is our developmental league. Do your time son.

I agree. Tennis is really pumping the gas these days.
It was women's basketball that got LA Tech invited.
Give me South Alabama or give me Texas State.

I could argue 12 provides optimal market value to C-USA members. If we lose two more, sit tight & build existing programs.

I agree with you. When we added MTSU and WKU, I thought maybe C-USA expected to lose two more schools. Was that Rice and UTEP going to the MWC? Or was it a domino starting with ACC teams going elsewhere, the AAC backfilling the ACC, and C-USA backfilling the AAC?
C-USA has the same measuring stick as the other conferences. Add programs if they move the overall revenue needle. The programs we are talking about don't move the needle and don't have alternatives, and we will still get their resume if we hang out a "help wanted" sign.

Try 5, only 5 (WKU, MTSU, FAU, FIU, UNT). 9 of our 14 have never played a down of SBC football. It is bad enough to have outsiders calling us a revamped SBC. Our own membership should know better.

UAB, ODU, UNCC, and LaTech were all in the original Sun Belt (the best version). So that makes 9...

at that point schools were going to the big east from the mwc that later backed out. if they had gone to the big east utep would have gone to the mwc along with probably Tulsa. then the tv deal turned out to be a myth and boise and san diego balked. cusa ended up at 14. we were being proactive and made the right choice based on the information we had at the time. if we had waited and things had gone as expected cusa could have ended up like the wac.

C-USA will eclipse the AAC in 5 years. Even in football. ODU is an example of a school building a Program, not a team, and outside of ECU (maybe Tulsa) the defectors weren't about that. Houston had success, but I don't look for that to be the norm. There is so much enthusiasm in this conference. It's going to be a fun ride.

I don't know if eclipse will be the correct term. I do believe that the AAC will beat the @#$% out of each other year in and year out. No one will be able to separate themselves and be a dominate program. Therefore most years they will never have that team to even think about breaking into the BCS game.
I do think there are a few programs that can grow into nice programs in CUSA.

From the article:
"C-USA doesn't need an additional two members.
There are two reasons for that opinion.
No. 1: The five remaining C-USA members, who havewhile the seven others bolted for the boringly named American Athletic Conference, would be insane to agree to slicing another two pieces out of the league's revenue pie.
No. 2: There aren't two more schools worthy of invitations. Sure, I know Old Dominion keeps pounding the drum for nearby James Madison, but that's nothing more than a rim-shot. The Dukes simply don't bring the necessary qualifications."
"stayed the course" = didnt get invited
boringly named....not nearly as snazzy as CUSA
this guy really gets paid to write this stuff?
