WGN Football
Just out of curiosity, why does WGN not carry any college football? I am surprised NU or UI don't have a deal with them. NIU should try to get that WGN America audience!

They get higher ratings running reruns.

That would be a coup to get NiU sports and coaches shows on WGN. Love the idea.

Chicago will just never be a college sports town, noone cares about college sports in the Chicagoland area.

When WGN carried every Depaul BB game that was huge for the Blue Demons. They were a nationally known team.

Not sure why they don't do any sports besides the Cubs I guess they think Dawson's Creek is a better draw. Dumb.

They won't be doing the Cubs anymore pretty soon. Also, college football is on after baseball season for the most part. I like the idea, but insure there is a good reason why they aren't already doing it.

RE: WGN Football
That is a good idea to try for our October or November games which are not on the ESPN channels.
Maybe a 5-6 game per year deal between football and mens basketball.

I really hope that in the MAC/ESPN re-negotiations that ESPN3.com no longer gets first tier rights. That would help us pay for games on real TV if we want to. Then if not ESPN3.com can have them.

I would love to see NIU get some side radio deal with WGN to broadcast some of our games during times when our games do not conflict with NU. Losing the Score larger than most people think.

After pro sports, Chicago loves the Big Ten, lots of big ten bars and flags on apartments.

Not sure about NCAA rules and broadcasting on a "superstation". This is why the Blackhawks are only on WGN local. NHL prohibits teams being broadcast on "superstations".

I do not think this would apply any longer. Notre Dame has its very own TV contract with a national network in NBC.

WGN builds around the Cubs, Bulls, and coverage of Chicago pro sports and there's neither the interest or money for them to do college, something they discovered when the Blue Demons fizzled.
