RE: Moving Back to Cincinnati- Recommendations?
I lived in Miami Township (Loveland school district) for 7 years and I loved it. However, I was surrounded by tOSU and Miami fans in my neighborhood. I should rephrase that, the Miami people were not fans, just grads. The buckeye people could be real pricks though. During the first couple of months I lived there my UC flag was stolen twice. I finally mounted it on the chimney so high that you would have needed a fire ladder to reach it. Never had another problem.

I lived at first in Fort Wright, at the top of the cut in the hill. This was a 10 minute drive to downtown, even during rush hour with the Brent Spence bridge. The reason is that nobody is merging onto I-75 ahead of you, so while traffic moves steadily at 30 mph, it is only 3 miles and you get through quickly.

With the third child, we were forced to move into a larger house, so we are now in Edgewood, which is about a 20 minute rush hour drive to downtown.

I often hear the argument that the public schools in Kentucky are not as good as Ohio. As a child growing up in one of the more highly regarded Columbus area public schools, I hate to say it, but Ohio public schools ain't that good either. For what it's worth, as a Catholic family, we would be sending our children to parochial schools whether we lived in Ohio or Kentucky. The property tax savings in Kentucky is about equal or greater than the tuition cost, so at worst it is a wash financially. If you choose to send the children to Kentucky public schools, expect a $3000 property tax savings pro annum compared to Anderson Township. This will get you in the 1200 Club and 45 yard line season tickets as well.

When I made the difficult decision to move over to redneckland, I drew a 5 mile circle around downtown, and Mount Adams aside, there was nowhere on the Ohio side of the river that I would want to live. And Mount Adams is not an ideal place to raise a family, so my choice was made by default. I love hearing the fireworks when the Reds hit a home run - take that, Mason!

Edit: I should have read through all of the posts above, as your decision has already been made. Hopefully my information might be helpful to someone else moving back to Cincinnati, and I wish you the best in Milford.

But with your 3 children, sending all 3 to Moeller or St. X at $11k - $12k per year is a ton of money. Even Cov. Cath is like $6,500 per year. That's a lot of scratch for 3 kids. I guess if you're committed to sending your kids to private school then you're better off finding the absolute cheapest area to live.

I was thinking more on a grade school level than high school, but point taken, the children will get older eventually and it will cost more.
