If there are two kickers ahead of Ty, then they must be awesome kickers.

1st team RB Trey Watts from Tulsa had 1108 yards rushing and 3 TD's last year.

Reaves was 1037 yards 13 Td's....so yes I take Reaves on 1st team. Especially since he was the only reason we were even watchable last year.

Tulanes kicker I will give you.

Players on teams with perennial losing records do not get the benefit of the doubt. If you think we were barely watchable, I imagine the voters thought the same.

reaves should be 1st team, tulanes kicker won the groza last year so going to be hard for TY to be 1 team but should at least be 2 as well as mullins (44 yard ave last year). Im good with being the underdogs all year as long as we pull through.

There's nary a Blazer on his 4-deep defensive selections. For the mathematically challenged, that's ZERO Blazers out of 44.

Meanwhile, 14 of the 44 are on teams that haven't even played a down in the conference yet (FAU, MTSU, etc.).

so...you agree that tulanes kicker should be first team. and according to your stats, it appears reasonable to put reaves on the 1st team, but also appears reasonable that watts could be there. so, your was probably over utilized, since neither choice is crazy

Yep. Also fail to acknowledge that Reeves had 1037 yards on 215 carries while Watts got his 1108 on 186 carries. Watts also had two other backs on the roster with over 130 carriers(137 and 202) and one of those guys scored 24 tds and graduated. We just need to focus on winning games. There preseason teams don't mean a damn thing.

A bit of an explanation(from a couple of years ago, I think) :

One of the many requests I get each year is to include a Projected W/L Record for each team in the Magazine. First let me explain why I do not include a W/L projection in my magazine. My evaluation of each team is based off my nine different sets of power ratings, these nine different sets give me nine different ways to project a season. One set of power ratings is based purely on talent level and may project a team to go 8-4 while another set of ratings is based off of my computer numbers which include rushing and passing offenses, defenses and special teams may project that team to go 10-2. When reading my forecast section for each team in my magazine you will notice that many times I will say that all nine sets of my power ratings call for a 12-0 season or two sets of power ratings call for a DD win season. This is as close to a projected record as I give in my magazine.

So I was piddlin' around on Tulane's website and came across this article about their kicker and remembered this thread.

The guy was the A.P. 1st Team All-American kicker last year after making 21-21 FG's.

Um, yeah, I would agree he deserves the pre-season 1st Team All-Conference nod.

I'm assuming they are all worse, especially with Ty. Ty could be the best kicker in the country.
