Fun Stats With Jordan Lynch
Tweeted these out last night, enjoy:
Jordan Lynch ran the ball 294 times times last year, as a QB. That is absolutely insane. He also threw the ball 394 times.
In 2012, Harnish ran the ball 194 times. That's a lot in itself. He threw the ball 384 times. Lynch's number last year is absolutely absurd.
The most amazing thing is I can literally only think of 1 time last year where Lynch even got up limping. He's made of steel
Trent Steelman ran the option at Army last year, he ran the ball 53 LESS times than Lynch did. He also only threw 90 passes.
I think Jordan Lynch may have literally gotten hit more than any player in college football history last year.
NIU ran 1,023 offensive plays last year, Lynch ran or passed on 688 of them. 67% of the plays NIU ran on offense, Lynch was responsible for.
So 2 out of every 3 offensive plays, Lynch was doing something. Then the other play Leighton Settle got the ball and I'd be pissed lol
Lynch also punted twice and had a tackle last season.
NIU gained 6,574 yards from scrimmage last year. Lynch either ran or passed for 4,953. 75% of the yards NIU gained, Lynch was involved in.
Difference in Kill's offense and Doeren's? NIU ran 910 and 805 offensive plays Kill's last two years. In Doeren's 2 years, over 1,000 each.
In NIU's two most competitive games in the MAC last year, they outgained Toledo and Kent by a combined 464 yards.

So, if I am reading this correctly, what you are saying is 2014 will be a rebuilding year?

Crazy stats indeed. It would be great if we can get similar production this year with Lynch handing off a bit more rather than doing it all himself. The O-line should be up to it, we'll see if the running backs are.
Kill ran more of a clock eating style which has its merits. The only problem there is that when you switch to hurry up it feels like panic mode whereas we're always in hurry up now so it's no big deal.

Even when Jordan Lynch messed up, he was exciting. The tackle he made against Toledo prevented what looked like a sure pick-6.

For the amount of snaps Lynch has taken, the mind boggling one to me is number of runs of 30+ yards, its just insane.

Great stuff 7 until I read two words .... Leighton Settle. Hard to believe he was our best option at TB.....I didn't enjoy watching him run the ball to put it nicely.
