You have to bring a lot of value in the new payout system and ULL does not bring enough for CUSA to justify reducing the payout and tv split.
Your just going to have to get used to getting beat by Ga Southern.
I would suggest you really don't know what UL brings to CUSA or what conversations are taking place. The reduction in payout is minimal when you do the math and can be made up in other areas.
Ga Southern Teachers College has yet to beat any FBS program, so I don't expect to see much from ChickenHawks cousin the Limping Eagles!
I'll say again,THIS IS GOING TO BE FUN!!!!!!
---One thing that UL clearly brings to any of the FBS conferences is great attendance---Consider in the last 2 years Football had a 30K average and brought 45K to the Dome----MBB had an almost 9K game----Softball one of the top attendances in the country---Baseball--One of the top 20 attendance records in the country---Even WBB had a sellout---All have got to admit that this is quite impressive with the only championship team in softball!!! Not many in the country can hang with us on that!!!
I know the Cajuns are attendance kings - it seems you are overstating 2012 home attendance for football. Is this incorrect?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Sun_Be...attendance
I mentioned in the last 2 years --We were at that 2 years ago after the hurricane like weather and the weekday games---We will be over 30K for sure this year!!!

RE: who will the cusa pick?
Hope the Cajuns have to close down their stadium from additional entries because they have so many people wanting in to see them play. Really. Wish that for all Sun Belt members, want to see them all win like crazy and have huge attendances. Louisiana has something special going on right now, so wouldn't surprise me at all.

RE: who will the cusa pick?
The Cajuns count attendance with attendant using "clickers" at the gate. This is actual attendance not tickets sold. Last year was a down year (considering the quality of team the Cajuns had) because of 2 factors, poor weather and a mid-week game.
Mid week games hurt the Cajuns attendance more that most mid-majors because of the culture of tailgating. For some fans, if they cannot tailgate, they will just stay at home and watch it on TV.
Bad weather is endemic in South Louisiana, especially during the fall. Even bad weather game attendance has improved over the past 5 years, but in reality what happens is the die hard fans will attend regardless. Families will stay at home if rain is threatening. That will not change. What has changed and what (I hope) will continue to change is the number of die hard fans will continue to increase.
Barring weather and considering 1 mid-week game this fall, I expect the Cajuns will average about 27,000.

Lot of App State fans, and sure Cajun fans also, have RV's or buses, some with converted upper decks, most with covered cooking areas. Rain, snow, hail, sleet - those tailgaters would make perfect mail carriers.

RE: who will the cusa pick?
I am not making any excuses, we still had pretty good attendance compared to the rest of the SBC. I am stating a fact that when the weather is bad, as it was for multiple games last season, it hurts attendance. That goes for any school. Families for example will not bring young kids out in the rain for a football game.

RE: who will the cusa pick?
Agree about weather. Couple of years ago we had unusual high amounts of snow. Seemed like a few hours before every home game we would get icy rain, sleet or snow with blowing winds. Never seen conditions that bad. Knocked several thousand out for each game, at least.

While I don't really like mid-week games because they are hard to get to for me...I live 2.5 hours from Jonesboro. ASU had one of its best attended games vs. ULM on a Thursday night this past season (31,000). It was a great atmosphere but it took till mid-way through the 2nd qtr for everyone to get in their seats. It was a 6pm KO and everyone was trying to get to the game after work. ON Saturdays people tailgate and come in over the course of the day so their is not too bad of a traffic jam.
Week night games are a fact of life now...we just have to be creative in getting people to show up. Winning helps!
