According to Time, $950 of the $1,790 of student fees at Miami of Ohio goes toward supporting athletics.

Article mentions a few other MAC schools. Sports budgets in the MAC average $23.2 million and rose 29% from 2006 to 2011, according to USA Today; they are 75% funded through subsidies

Didn't GaSou raise student fees to expand the stadium and maintain the football program at the FBS level?

What is the % deference between your current budget and your proposed FBS budget? (inclusive of Title IX schollies).

Seems to me you are building your program on the backs of the students just like the MAC schools you are calling out.

First, I don't think I called anyone out by posting an article link and quotes from it. I apologize if it came off that way.

Second, Georgia Southern will have $214 in athletic fees even with the new FBS fees voted by the students last year. Which is about 20% of total fees at Georgia Southern University

While usa has about 600 million in the bank, we play in a very sorry facility that doesnt even have locker rooms. Teams at ladd meet up at halftime in tents in the parking lot. We really cant be casting shade on anyone

SBC members play them once and in some cases twice a year per school. MAC schools play BIG 10 schools and we all know how that conference did last year....

Does it matter how often they play the SEC?

The fact of the matter is is that the MAC had more ranked teams last season than the SBC has had in its entire history, which is the only real barometer as to who has the better football conference.
The Mac has performed better than the belt recently. That being said, playing midlevel sec teams is like playing top tier b1g teams. But belt schools dont have to keep scheduling alabama.

Ahhh, good shoddy reporting by SI. Sure, they need $60k for just bathrooms 01-wingedeagle. SI just wanted to create a headline to gets more page hits. From EMU's website:

Quote:All fundraising efforts will go to the next stage of the football facilities' transformation and will include upgrades to the players' and coaches' locker room bathrooms, the players' lounge, the equipment room and the weight room.

South has a lot of advantages over Troy, but the stadium issue is a clear cut win for Cardinal.

SBC is in better shape than the MAC
The locker rooms at Ladd Peebles were renovated in 1997.

RE: SBC is in better shape than the MAC
the Sun Belt has 5/11 schools that have been in FBS for 1 season or less. The SBC won't really know what kind of shape its in fiscally until everyone gets fully transitioned. 9 teams in the MAC have been members for 40+ years, 6 of those for 60+, there aren't a lot of surprises for them at this point.

Then why would teams use tents in the parking lot at halftime instead of the locker rooms? Doesn't make sense.
