Washington Post article on CIC membership
http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/educ...story.html

Not a ton of new information except for this blurb:
Quote:Students from CIC schools are able to share overseas study programs, access to laboratories, and specialized courses in foreign languages and other topics.

This makes the prospect of adding Hopkins a much bigger deal: http://www.jhuapl.edu/

There is no university president that would turn down potential access to APL for the "cost" of adding an affiliate member for lax.

Hopkins would be a huge addition for the CIC. U. of Chicago hasn't been a B1G member in over 50 years and they're still in the CIC (IIRC they have a standing invitation to return, if they so chose to do so, but they're happy in DIII). Hopkins' lacrosse would be a nice addition to the B1G.

During the Country's peak, it accounted for over 50% of the entire World's GDP. Now we are somewhere around 18%.

The sharing of oversea's study programs is becoming more and more valuable every single year. That experience in understanding another culture is priceless when it comes to getting a step ahead of the competition when it comes to landing those jobs everyone wants. Corporations are having to find their increased profits overseas just as much if not more so than here.

The Quintesential American Brand, John Deere, is heavily focused on expansion into China. International expansion is where it is at.
