That place was a hell-hole... The lead paint was showering down on my head throughout the game and I couldn't even see one of the endzones from my seat.

Past attendance:
2008 - 28,777 (Wake Forest vs Navy)
2009 - 23,072 (UCLA vs Temple
2010 - 38,062 (ECU vs Maryland)
2011 - 25,042 (Toledo vs Air Force)
2012 - 17,835 (San Jose State vs Bowling Green)

34K should be plenty.

Navy-Marine Corps Stadium is really nice. Also, Annapolis is the bomb. I'd definitely go to that game if Pitt is playing in it.

It sounds like a nice place for East Carolina or Marshall out of CUSA to play this year. This was already part of the bowl agreement so its not really news per se.

After this season it becomes a AAC-ACC event I'm almost certain.

I think it makes a fair amount of sense to schedule lower tier bowls at more compact venues. This is in line with the strategy of the Beef O'Brady's Bowl in St. Pete and the Armed Forces Bowl in Ft. Worth. It's challenging for schools to sell full allotments to larger venues when you've just gone 6-6 or 7-5. The value in these games primarily comes from television money anyway. You're better off showing a full 30,000 seat venue than a half empty 60,000 seat venue.

I gotta admit that was a pretty awful day all around for Pirate fans... and the Terps fans around me kept talking about how they were going the the Big Ten. I thought they were crazy; at the time, I had no idea they were even on the B1G radar.

The better question is why is RFK still standing? Why would anyone want to go watch anything in RFK? That's the worst stadium I ever set foot in. This is a huge upgrade for this bowl, and takes it from a bowl I swore I'd never go to again to one I'd be pretty excited to attend if ECU was playing in it.

Well put.

Anyone who has strolled downtown Annapolis in the fall and been to a Navy football game there understands this move and loves it. People love to b i t c h about anything they can.

I'm not talking smack about my hometown, I'm questioning the decision to move the bowl to the a small venue, guaranteeing it can't grow beyond 34K.

The ECU-Maryland game was the only one that even came close to 34k, so I wouldnt be too worried. And it creates demand for tickets if so.

Well IMO the best place to put it would have been Nationals Park, but RFK is a hell hole. There's zero reason to ever play anything there.

They can always move back to DC whenever DC United's stadium is built; it'll likely be 30,000 or so.

How does baseball to football work for field conversion? Do they have to dig up the infield?

Yankees Stadium does it and Wrigley even did it once for a NW/Illinois game. Though a newer bigger park is preferred. They just were able to fit the field in Wrigley.

Watching football in a baseball stadium is horrific. Sight lines are all wrong. Seats are at weird angles. Some seats are so low you have to peek between players. Some seats are too close, others are too far.

I've been to MC stadium. It is very nice. Annapolis was nice when I went there in September. I don't know what it would be like in December.

Chilly (not really cold), and gray. Very gray.
