One of many actually or at least it looks like there are many renditions since the pictures I have seen look slightly different.

I used to play a lot of golf at Scarlet Oaks Country Club in Poca, which is right across the road from Poca HS. They used to hold a celebrity golf classic every year at Scarlet Oaks too, and a lot of people from Hollywood came to play golf and help raise money for local charities. Whenever someone mentions odd mascots, that's the first thing that comes to my mind...

There is a high school in Bay St Louis called the St Stanislaus Rockachaws. Bonus points to you if you know what a rockachaw is without having to look it up, but that is a wierd thing to call an athletic team.

The worst college nickname I have ever heard of, by far, is the NYU Violets. Officially, they aren't referencing the flower, either...just the color. Their mascot is a bobcat...not from the animal, but from the shorthand form of "Bobst Library Catalog".

I'm very suprised the school has giant ***** for a mascot when considering the possibility of a sexual harrassment lawsuit. The fact that you can't post the word ***** on this board illustrates the sensitive nature of having such a mascot.

Auburn just can't make up their minds. Curt Gowdy used to refer to them by their old "Plainsmen" name. And then its the War Eagles. Maybe its an Alabama thing. Alabama is the Crimson Tide and their mascot is an elephant.

I think if you are a Wildcat, you are supposed to be better at basketball than football. Kentucky, Villanova, Davidson, Arizona, Kansas St. (used to be very true for them), Northwestern (for a long while good at neither).

Some who love the Sioux name would like to just keep UND with no nickname, allowing Sioux to live on unofficially.

There have been quite a few names suggested, one of which was Nokota, which is the state horse. Most don't care for it as it is redundant... North Dakota Nokotas.

Since North Dakota has become a huge oil state in the past few years... Wildcatters.

All kinds of ideas for new names here... UND Nickname

I remember watching the LSU-Towson game last year and the commentators constantly referred to the Tigers, it got rather annoying. I presume that they meant LSU but it wasn't clear.
