Too bad its not a home and home. I also wish our AD would say that the game is scheduled. I'm tired of reading about future games when other schools release the info. Heck our AD still hasn't mentioned the FSU bodybag game for 2015 or the return of USM to San Marcos in 2015.

I know they don't want to release info until its super concrete but this type of info can get fans excited. Plus its not a big deal when they do change, happens to teams all the time.

It's on the athletic home page. One of the articles that rotate.

Will be at least two SB teams playing Big 10 schools next year then.
We play Michigan.

If we both could come away with wins would really spring the perception of the SBC forward.

Indeed. 2014 is a good year for us to try and pull an upset. Many of Fran's top recruits will finally be JRs and SRs.

When we started our move up Texas State had 63 schollies and moved first transition year to 74. We did not have the depth to hang with teams from conferences like the Big 12 or Big 10. The fourth quarter was the telltale sign usually with the exceptions of a blowout. We could hang with them for three quarters. Please be fair to your team and coach and have your expectations in check.

GSU is already used to coming sooooo close to beating the BIG boys of football. 2014 will be very telling for many SBC teams. Especially GSU. We feel we have 3 very winnable ooc fbs opponents. It will truly tell whether our offense can hang in the fbs.

We play at Illinois too in 2014, should be a chance at a win and an easy drive from BG...

And we will most likely be starting a red shirt freshman.

Well that'll sure draw a crowd. Why can't we get a decent home and home like the rest of the SBC?

Lots of reasons why, but I'm sure it will happen if we do well this season.

Here's some
We don't have the room like UTSA has with the Alamodome and some teams won't come to a 30K stadium for anything.
Texas FBS teams see us as beneath them. Hell, UH won't come to SM. I don't see that Baylor, SMU, Rice, TCU etc., etc., are knocking down our door to get a deal signed.
Fact is, for TX teams, only Baylor has signed with UTSA and that's a 2/1
I have the utmost respect to TTech now for coming to open the "new" stadium. It was the most fun gameday experience I've had since the 2005 playoffs.

Maybe, over time, the other TX teams will get over themselves and come to San Marcos but I think it will be after we prove ourselves "worthy"

Wins won't do it. Money will. Filled stadiums, gameday atmosphere, etc will.

Why would UH (for example) come to San Marcos? It's not a gimme game for them, they won't get paid a great deal, and odds are good their fans aren't going to get terribly excited for it (I say that's a mistake on their part, as it's a great weekend trip for a family, but I digress).

Given that, I'd be fine with us signing a 2-1 deal with a UNT/SMU/Rice/etc team. I'd be happy with Tulane or New Mexico coming to San Marcos under the same deal.

Unfortunately, I think we need to either get a bigger stadium (closer to 45-50k, which right now isn't warranted nor are the funds available) or get to knocking on top 25 (where wins will help, I just think it's gonna take more than a year) to get Texas teams in here.

It's why I was so hardline on getting into a conference with other Texas schools. For the foreseeable future, we're going to have a tough time getting Texas teams into San Marcos.

Houston/UNT/SMU/Rice on 2 for 1 deals? You gotta be kidding me. Tulane and New Mexico?? You are really in la la land.

Both games against Houston were sellouts and are among the top 10 or twenty biggest crowds in Robertson stadium history. In the games with SMU and TCU there were an estimated 5-6,000 bobcat fans in those game. So one could easily assume we would have around the same for Rice and UNT. As far as UTSA goes our game with the road runners saw 12,000 more fans than their average for the previous five home games.

If you are talking strictly about losing money in ticket sales, TxSt would come out a big loser when playing those schools. There is no way that Houston, SMU Rice and/or UNT would send an equal amount of fans to San Marcos.

When it comes to Tulane, from the pictures I've seen I don't think they average 5,000 at home, much less the 5-7,000+ that would warrant s 2-1, and New Mexico is the same way.

It's a simple deal: These schools have NOTHING to gain from coming here. So we'd have to entice them. If it takes 2-1 deals, so be it. I am fine, so long as it brings other Texas (or close to Texas) teams to Bobcat Stadium.
