AJC: GSU baseball can reach a few records
http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/georgia-state...w-records/

Quote:By Doug Roberson
Barring an unlikely invitation to the NCAA tournament, Georgia State’s baseball team likely finish its season with a three-game series at William and Mary with several reachable team records in sight.
The Panthers (34-19) have a chance to tie the school record for regular season victories (37). The overall record is 39 in 2009, but that team won four games in the Colonial Athletic Association tourney, which it isn’t eligible to play in this year because of its move to the Sun Belt Conference.
Why is it unlikely the Panthers will make it to the tourney? Their RPI is 147, according to http://www.warrennolan.com and 145 on http://www.ncaa.com .
Here are Georgia State’s 30-win seasons
Season, Record, Coach
2009, 39-22, Greg Frady
2011, 37-21, Greg Frady
2013, 34-19, Greg Frady
2010, 34-23-1, Greg Frady
2008, 33-23, Greg Frady
2000, 31-28, Mike Hurst
1980, 30-25, Jack Humphrey

If the Panthers’ bats get hot, they could match the team record for doubles (145). The team currently has 132.

There are also some individual records that can be tied or broken.
Chad Prain has 87 hits. The school record is 91.
Here are Georgia State’s hits leaders
Hits, Name, Year
91, Mark Micowski, 2010
91, Brandon Williams, 2010
87, Chad Prain, 2013
85, Bradley Logan, 2008
84, Mark Micowski, 2011
80, Carl Moniz, 2010
80, Josh Merrigan, 2013
79, Bradley Logan, 2010
78, Rob Lind, 2010
78, Marc Mimeault, 2009

Prain’s batting average is .410. The school record is .413.
Here are Georgia State’s batting average leaders
Average, Name, Year
.413, Tim Burgess, 2004
.408, Brandon Williams, 2010

.398, Marc Mimeault, 2009
.398, Bobby Kidd, 1999
.393, Scott Youngbauer, 2000
.392, Mark Micowski, 2010

Andrew Fessler, who is scheduled to start Saturday, is 6-1 with a 2.59 ERA. The school record is 2.73.
Here are Georgia State’s ERA leaders
ERA, Name, Year
2,73, Billy Boughey, 2000
2.86, Will Campbell, 2011
2.89, Matt Handley, 2005
2.93, Adam Bowling, 2007
3.18, Ronnie Robinson, 2003
3.26, Ronnie Robinson, 2002
3.57, Will Palmer, 2008
3.60, Kevin Dooley, 2007
3.63, David Giancarlo, 1996
3.64, Rodney Dickinson, 1996

If Fessler earns a victory, he would equal the school record for winning percentage (.875).
Here are Georgia State’s winning percentage leaders
Percentage, Name, Year
.875, Justin Malone, 2011
.833, Aidan Francis, 2009
.800, Justin Malone, 2010

Damn, they aren't even letting y'all play in the CAA baseball tournament? That sucks, hate to see the seniors lose a chance at the NCAA tournament.

Yeah, thankfully this nightmare ends in a few weeks.

I mean, I understand that the CAA is probably upset that you guys were out the door so quick but it still just seems petty. The kids didn't do anything wrong, baseball is not a big revenue sport and a great season goes for naught.

App still has one more season left in the SoCon but they are allowing us to play in all conference tournaments and eligible for championships in every sport but football. The CAA should have done the same.

I agree. Ga. State should have been allowed to play for all championships this year except for football. Thankfully the SoCon does not have the same rules the CAA has.

To me its silly. You ask for an exit fee. Cool. You leave a conference and there should be a monetary hit to the school. Cool. But to take it out on the kids is always silly.

Another question is this: what does the CAA gain? Nothing. It is spite, plain and simple.

UNCW/W&M are likely in the field no matter what. Taking one of the top teams out of the tournament just takes away one more chance for a team outside the top two to make a run, win the tournament and allow the possibility of three bids.

Yep...looking forward to when I can "unlike" or "unfollow" of the CAA's social media. Is it June 1 or July 1 our official first day in the Sun Belt?
