Hardly a fair assessment. Memphis had the top recruiting class in CUSA in 2004 and should be exceptionally competitive for many years to come. Memphis has already signed one of the top high school quarterbacks in the country in 2004. There is a whole new situation at Memphis with Tommy West as head coach. The Ole Miss and Memphis games will be much more competitive than in past years when Memphis was not getting top players like they are now. History hardly counts in this new scenario at Memphis which it totally unlike what happened 10 or more years ago. Then again, the basketball rivalry should be totally dominated by Memphis for many years to come. Calipari appears to be a permanent fixture in Memphis and that does not bode well for Ole Miss basketball. Expect continued losses to Memphis in basketball for many years to come. A Memphis basketball game at the FED EX FORUM with almost 20,000 fans on national TV is no comparison to the poor student support the Ole Miss basketball program gets in Oxford. Those two programs are not even in the same league with each other. Those are just the unadulterated facts.
