In response to the conference draft on the Cuse board, should we set up one?
If anyone wants to replicate the Cuse-board conference draft, I've put a little thought into an expanded version. Basically, the first round is the superconference draft, just like the Cuse board. Afterwards, we add two smaller football conferences from the teams left over from Round 1 and from conferences like C-USA, SBelt, MWC, ACC. Round 2 is also where we make two basketball-only conferences.
Here's what I'm thinking:
Round 1: Superconferences (16 teams)
- 4 conferences, 4 posters
- All drafts will go snake-style (1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1)
- 16 rounds, for 16 teams. No commisioner pick.
- Goal for superconferences is maximized profit.
- 80% of money from football, 20% from basketball. Make picks accordingly.
- Try to protect rivalries.
- Academics can be taken into consideration, but should be secondary to athletics and profit.
- After picks are made, divide the conferences into pods and divisions, with travel in mind.
Round 2: Smaller football conferences (16 teams) and basketball conferences (12 teams)
- 2 football conferences, 2 basketball conferences. 4 posters.
- 16 rounds again.
- Post order will be 1F, 1B, 2F, 2B, 2B, 2F, 1B, 1F.
- 60% football, 40% basketball for smaller football conferences. 90% basketball, 10% FCS football for basketball conferences.
- No hybrids. FBS football teams cannot join the basketball conferences, and teams without FBS football cannot join the football conferences.
- Divide into pods and divisions after the conferences have been set.
Total, we need 8 posters or four posters that want to do double-duty. There will be a total of 144 picks. 96 football teams in Round 1, 32 football and 24 basketball in Round 2.

MarshallHerdFanz, MemphisTigerFreak, and I have dibs on round 1. Unless they've changed their minds. We need 1 more participant.

That would work fine. We'll see if fans of smaller schools would want to do Round 2 (may get dropped if no interest).

How do we want to do this? We could use the chatroom under the Features tab at the top of the page

I will take one of the smaller slots. Building a mid-major league sounds fun.

That could work. I haven't used the chatroom before though.
EDIT:
Right now, we have:
Round 1: MarshallHerdFanz, MemphisTigerFreak, OrangeCrush22, BearcatMan (assuming you want Round 1)
Round 2: oliveandblue
Looking for 2-3 more for Round 2.

Still looking for 2-3 more people interesting in Round 2. I'm hoping to kick the thing off tomorrow with enough interest, or maybe over the weekend. I guess I'll moderate.

We have just entered our first round on the SEC board. I recommend it as it's a lot of fun...

Yeah, that would be left-overs. Any team not picked up in the first round would be available.
Right now, we have:
Round 1: MarshallHerdFanz, OrangeCrush22, BearcatMan
Round 2: oliveandblue, you
We'll need one more for Round 1, or I'll fill in I guess. I'm not sure we'll do them at the same time; we may do Round 1 this weekend and then do Round later after we get more people interested.
EDIT: To be clear, the goal is to maximize revenue, especially TV revenue. Hope that helps you plan your strategy.

Move me to round one. I would also expand this to include more schools. 5 x 16 would make for some interesting late-round picks.

We were thinking about doing it tomorrow (Sat.) at 6:30pm. Or Sunday at the same time if you can't do that.

Saturday at 6:30 pm EST? I would love for it to be a tad bit later that evening.
We could just use the message board here. I bet we could get through 2-3 rounds a day if everyone stays active.
