I would say that answers the question if Spears did or did not get that 1yr contract.

Interesting tidbit, Dr. Peters made comments in the article. Wonder if new president Baker will tab him to help oversee the process on his way out with Baker having the final sayso to his recommendation? If it as it appears to be the case this is a big win for all of us on Peters way out.

I wonder also if we will delay signing any major football scheduling announcements, including Iowa, until we have a new person in there.

With this announcement, it almost seems like Spears may have overstepped his boundaries as interim AD. I wouldn't think that such an announcement would have been made until after July 1st when Baker takes over. Maybe the announcement of the 2 Iowa games in 2018 and 2020 ?? It all depends on what authority he was given as interim AD...
