CUSA Info
Not sure whether you guys view this as good, bad, or "what's new"? info, but it's still info:

From http://hamptonroads.com/2013/05/odu-offi...gs-florida

Quote:C-USA commissioner Britt Banowsky has floated the idea of expanding from 14 to to 16 schools in 2014. The schools most often mentioned as expansion candidates include Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas State of the Sun Belt Conference and James Madison of the Colonial Athletic Association.

JMU plays in the Football Championship Subdivision, a step below the Football Bowl Subdivision. But JMU officials hired a consultant to help them determine the school's athletic future. A report is slated to be made public this summer.

Selig and Wilder said that if JMU decides it wants to move up to FBS, they would lobby hard for C-USA to invite the Dukes..."

I don't think I can take that article seriously since its mentioning ULM as a potential expansion target. I'll be crowned the king of Sweden before ULM gets into CUSA.

I'm curious as to why you think this. I have no inside knowledge, but it would seem that if C-USA wants to go 16 teams that they'll probably want a current FBS instead of an FCS (no matter how qualified they may be).

There are worse teams than UL-Monroe.

This is a curious and maybe telling statement..at least to me.
Maybe not so much for JMU fans.

EXACTLY! Who the hell knows what our admin is thinking. Those of us in the peanut gallery are surely not getting a clue, which, frankly, pisses a lot of people off. I am one of them.

25 is right- no way we would ever comment on the daily ups and downs of negotiations. Smoke will always come from third parties. The fact that ODU is publicly lobbying for JMU is huge. What is means is that for a fact we're in the conversation. Obviously JMU has to reciprocate, but that is where Carr steps in. What other C-USA member is publicly pushing for specific adds? FIU pushed for FAU and got'em.

On the flip-side, it is unlikely a school would publicly block JMU. Privately JMU may be being blocked by another C-USA school. Would we ever know? Jealous Marshall worried about recruiting or UAB not wanting to travel west? Those are the problems we potentially face.
