Edited to add: I'm not trying to start a p*ssing contest between the SEC and Big 12 here. I was surprised to see the Big 12 has done fairly well during its history, even picking up a dozen of those elusive equestrian titles. If only Colorado hadn't taken their skiing program out west! 04-cheers

I would love to hear what the Big 12 has done, or any conference. If it is fact it's not brag.
Counting only those titles won during the actual history of the Big 12, we have the following. (Totals are given first, and if a team has left the conference the number earned by a current member is noted, with the departing titles noted by school. Nebraska, aTm, and Colorado definitely took a lot of our hardware with them)

Football (3/2) (1 Nebraska)
Equestrian (12/4) (8 aTm)
Baseball (2)
Men's Basketball (1)
Women's Basketball (3/2) (1 aTm)
Women's Bowling (5/0) (5 Nebraska)
Men's Cross Country (6/3) (3 Colorado)
Women's Cross Country (2/0) (2 Colorado)
Men's Golf (4/3) (1 aTm)
Men's Gymnastics (5)
Rifle (1) (Newcomer WVU!)
Women's Indoor Track (3)
Men's Outdoor Track (3/0) (3 aTm)
Women's Outdoor Track (6/3) (3 aTm)
Men's/Women's Skiing (4/0) (4 Colorado)
Softball (1)
Men's Swimming (5)
Men's Tennis (1)
Women's Volleyball (3/1) (2 Nebraska)
Wrestling (4)

The B12 now has WVU (15 national championships) and TCU (2 national championships) for rifle... 04-rock

I only counted those that were earned while teams were a member of the Big 12. Otherwise, I'd have included KU's other hoops titles (2 more NCAA tournament, plus 2 of those popular Helms titles), plus our outdoor track (3), indoor track (3), cross country (1) and bowling (1) titles. The Big 12 wikipedia page was easy one-stop shopping for titles earned as a conference member - doing the more detailed historic research would take a lot of time. 04-cheers

Auburn's first Olympic medal was won in the 1932 Olympics and was a Silver in Track and Field. Since then Auburn athletes have won:

19 Gold
16 Silver (including 1932)
18 Bronze

To my knowledge no Auburn athlete has won an Olympic Winter Games medal.

To the best of my knowledge the SEC won 60 total medals in the 2012 Olympics. More on that later.

How do we stack up against the other conferences for 2012?

If the following conflicts a bit with your team site don't sweat it. These are from the SEC Office and do not include titles won while teams were a member of another conference, and do not include football titles prior to the AP and UPI. It includes 1 title won by a team no longer a member of the SEC but they were in the SEC when they won the title. The team may surprise you.

MEN

National Championships Won

Baseball: 9 (UGA - 1, LSU - 6, USC - 2)

Basketball: 11 (FLA - 2, KY - 8, ARK - 1)

Boxing: 1 LSU

Cross Country: 8 (TEN - 1, ARK - 7)

Football: 21 (ALA - 9, AUB - 2, FLA - 3, UGA - 1, LSU - 3,
Miss - 1, TEN - 2)

Golf: 10 (FLA - 4, UGA - 2, LSU - 4)

Swimming & Diving: 11 (AUB - 8, FLA - 2, TEN - 1)

Tennis: 7 (UGA - 6, TULANE - 1)

Indoor Track & Field: 17 (ARK - 11, FLA - 3, LSU - 2, TEN - 1)

Outdoor Track & Field: 19 (ARK - 11, FLA - 1, LSU - 4, TEN - 3)

WOMEN

National Championships:

Basketball: 8 TEN - 8

Bowling: 1 VAN - 1

Cross Country: 1 KEN - 1

Golf: 4 (ALA - 1, FLA - 2, UGA - 1)

Gymnastics: 16 (ALA - 6, UGA - 10)

Soccer: 1 FLA - 1

Softball: 1 ALA - 1

Swimming & Diving: 11 (AUB - 5, FLA - 2, UGA - 4)

Tennis: 8 (FLA - 6, UGA - 2)

Indoor Track & Field: 14 (FLA - 1, LSU - 11, TEN - 2)

Outdoor Track & Field: 16 (AUB - 1, LSU - 14, USC - 1)

Equestrian is not an NCAA title and is therefore not listed here but the SEC has picked up a few of those as well.

I posted this data earlier in the thread, but I don't believe it was added, but it will change the final totals. I have updated...

Missouri Tigers National championships

Baseball (Men) – 1954
Indoor Track and Field (Men) - 1965
