It wasn't him. Mudd put on the enterprise three HOTTIES who weren't all they appeared to be. Now unless it was the same actor, the guy who dealt in Tribbles was dark hair and wore a coat.....and if you want to get technical about it, Ohura put them on after she bought them off the bartender who bought them off the trader.

I was glad when he disappeared. wesley plots were the ghey.

as I recall, he was abducted by a pan-dimensional child molester known as "the traveller". with any luck at all, wesley is spending the rest of his life cleaning alien spunk off tribbles.

. . . And there are, I suppose, parallels between the menagerie and the ending of the 2009 Star Trek flick.

Watched that 2 parter last night. INTERESTING to say the least. They reall integrated the older episode into that one quite well. Interesting plot too.

S1 " Balance of Terror"

Why was that guy they said was a Romulan so similar in features to Spock? The "soldiers" on his ship seemed to look different from him but they did have helmets on.

It gave the vibe of he knew about the war but was returning to Romulus be he seemed to know about the Neutral Zone and what not.

Anyone care to explain the Vulcan Romulan relationship and was there any thing special about the guy from this episode?

Thats one of the better episodes as well.

The Romulans and Vulcans are from the same blood line. As some point in the distant past of Vulcan (which was ravaged by violence and civil war) a group broke off and settled far away on Romulus. I believe the story is although they had warp ability a thousand + years ago, they lost much technology thru civil war and during a long "dark age" period for the Vulcans.

Eventually, the Vulcans embraced logic and reason thanks to Surak, a famous Vulcan teacher and prophet type. The Romulans became more warlike, enslaving the Remans on the twin planet Remus that obits Romulus and using the mining of Remus and Reman slaves to build a huge war machine empire. So the differences between the two cultures became wider over the centuries.

The Romulan Commander was played by Mark Lenard.

Mark Lenard was later cast as Spocks father "Sarek", an important and historic ambassador for the federation. Lenard played Sarek in the Original series, the original movies and even had multiple appearances in the Next Generation, as a 200+ year old Sarek (still an ambassador).

Check out "Doomday Machine" in season 2. My favoret episode as a kid.

Season three has "The Enterprise Incident" which also focuses on the Romulans.

Spock use of logic where the two others on the ship were wanting to care for their dead friend had a interesting dynamic.

Notice it had a black man playing a powerful lead role and questioning authority.

Something unheard of in 1967.

Ohura was a strong black female lead/key character too.

Several good episodes noted here. I like the new commercial with Shatner vs the Gorn, too. 04-cheers

Got back around to finishing up watching S1 of Star Trek. My this episode of Kahn appearing is quite the interesting.

"Space Speed" is episode name.

Ricardo Mantaban is such a bad ass....

Now I kind of want to go back to Wrath of Kahn movie.... to refresh up on the tie in.

I'd put .. "let this be your last battlefield" as one of the classic greats. Yes, there was a lot of overacting, but I think it was supposed to be, considering the subject matter (a take on racism in the world).

The message kinda got hit over your head with a sledgehammer more than once, but overall I thought it was a brilliantly done take on the situation. (that and seeing Frank Gorshin ham it up totally made the episode worth it!)

Between that episode of Star Trek and of course his many appearances as The Riddler, Frank Gorshin was a classic of 60s TV. Another would be F Troop's Larry Storch, who also had a classic appearance on I Dream of Jeannie as a monkey-turned-man, and who later inspired the "Larry Storch School of Acting" on "Married With Children".
