This it is easy TODAY for Saban to say this. I seriously doubt the vast majority of BCS AD's and coaches want any part of only playing other BCS conference schools especially those in the middle an bottom. I also seriously doubt Saban will put his money where his arrogant mouth is and do it. Lets see if he is still talking this way if the Tide slips a bit. I can see FCS schools being left off the schedule but that is about it.

Believe you are spot on.

I think that the power conference schools can get away with more than the others, and because they make money for the NCAA, justice is not meted out evenly. The big boys can also recover faster because of the money they make.

This is what my school went through, resulting in a 2-year death penalty in 1973:

the elite conferences get most of the press and by playing only each other the media would gin up these games to all be " the game of the century".. and create lots of hype. that all important iowa state/kansas or indiana/northwestern game would be hyped up to actually seem relevant.

FCS plays with fewer full scholy athletes. Saban is defending playing three by sending such flairs to avoid the obvious. FCS may be eliminated but the big 5 forming their own will never happen. If my school, by definition, meets all the same requirements and you refuse to play me you will likely meet my attorney. Changing the requirements would bring too much resistance from the bottom of the big five. It'll never happen.

Meet your attorney concerning what? Sure wouldn't be about refusing to play your school.

It would bring resistance from just about all schools in the big five. Very few are in the position AL is in. Saban needs a big ole helping of humble pie. I was just beginning to half way like him and AL as a program.

Again if the university "meets all requirements" this has class action law suite written all over it. I'm not an attorney but if the decision is to consolidate certain public universities for the purposes of financial gain that harms other public universities, particularly within the same system, we have a problem. Requirements have been put in place to level the playing field but also provide a fair bench mark for those who wish to participate. Requirements would have to change and here lies the problem. What could be changed and if the change is made what would be the implications for an already tight schedule. Just speculating but making this sort of change would likely meet quite a bit of resistance from a political standpoint as well.

Do not believe you would have a case at all. Many people have said things of this nature on posts with attorney's coming along and commenting on them and it seems that there is no recourse. But I'm not an attorney and didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
