Tax deduction for businesses

Booze

Exclusivity

How many people can Toledo or WMU fit in their skyboxes? If they're full, how much profit do they get from that?

Most boxes are owned by business/corporations. They can entertain clients and such in a classy environment.

That's the draw.

You mean the skyboxes in Toledo are in a classy environment?

But still, how much would that help us in terms of profit? Or would it help us bring in better opponents, assuming we get an AD that wants them?

Profit for the actual stadium not likely. It seems more of a try to break even thing for the actual ticket sales while they are paying off the bonds that were used to build it. Though after the debt is paid off then yes it could become a profit center.

The immediate benefit is that it will bring in new donors, exposure to people with businesses (sponsorship opportunities) and possibly getting a few more bigger opponents every decade with a real visiting AD box and coaches box.

By the time the bonds are paid off you will want upgrades...

Isn't that how it always goes?

If you are not growing or improving your business then you are losing ground.

Any stadium improvemnts/additions, etc are absolutely useless to talk about until there is a significant schedule upgrade. People arent going to come because of clean bathrooms or cushioned chairs or skyboxes, you have to have something to sell in the first place. And on this front its been crickets for 10 years and we have paid a hefty price for that in ticket sales.

By not improving things we are going to lose more people.

You might be right , but in order of magnitude the amount of people is negligible and 3rd or 4th order in comparison to schedule effects. It still baffles me the negligence on this front for a decade, a couple of leaders asleep at the wheel.

Yea, I think I started bringing it up about 4 years ago, at that point it had already been several years since we scheduled anybody decent at home in OOC. It's apparent that they didn't care. Nobody came out and said they couldn't get anybody to play at Huskie stadium. Doesn't have to be BCS even, just somebody good.

We do need the upgrades though. In any case it will help at the margins. And if the facilities makes it easier to sign up a good school, if we get an AD that wants one, then we need to do it.

No doubt that JCs top 5 priorities had nothing to do with growing the fanbase.

Academics, running a clean program, running the program in the green, getting wins (easy wins was fine) and building the indoor for his ticket out of here when he wanted to.
