UC’s David Tepe, a senior from Lakota East High School, has been selected to participate in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship May 16-18. Tepe will play at the Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course in Columbus in one of six 54-hole regional tournaments. .

Fourteen teams and five individuals not on those teams will compete in the Columbus regional. The low five teams and the low individual will move on to the finals which will be held May 28-June 2 in Atlanta.

Tepe is the fourth UC player to be selected for the NCAA Championship and the first since 1974. The other three are George McManis (1965), Geoff Hensley (1969) and Jon Nichols (1974).

Tepe earned arned his spot after taking medalist honors at the Big East Championship April 28-30, where he finished with an 8-under par 208 over three rounds.

On Thursday, Tepe was named to the All-Big East team, making him the fourth UC golfer to earn that honor. He joins Geoff Newman (2006), Alberto Fernandez (2009) and Joe Kostelic (2010).
