Could it be that Benson is not the leadership issue....but uneducated SBC Presidents who do not understand the seriousness of the situation the SBC faces?

It showed little knowledge on the presidents side to even hire the guy. But the presidents are now stuck with their decision and are frustrated with the current situation. One feeds the other.
Wonder how many bridges Benson burned when he was head of the WAC that is now making it hard for other universities to be willing to jump on board the ship he is leading now.

You got to feel bad for the new NMSU football coach. Wasn't this guy just hired a few months ago? The boss talking about dropping down to FCS doesn't do anything to help this guy succeed.

The travel savings would offset the drop in revenue.
CUSA folks assume that they are going to be #3 in the CFP payout but that's not a smart assumption. They could easily be #5. They finished below the MAC and Sun Belt last year and they've added three schools that have never been been in FBS, they've added one that hasn't won since 2004, one that is down from a good period, one that fired a coach one year removed from a bowl trip, one that has had success but just hired a coach fired for not being effective in the Florida recruiting hot bed, and one that is well run but has been up down while losing ECU, Houston, UCF, and some other schools that have football teams.
Finishing 5th with 14 is worse than finishing 3rd with 16.

I doubt there is a better President, Chancellor, AD, combo in understanding athletics in the Sun Belt than at Arkansas State.

CUSA is not finishing 3rd with 14 or 16. Finishing 5th with 16 is worse than finishing 5th with 14.
The real question: Is finishing 4th with 16 better than finishing 5th with 14?

They take the right two, they have a real shot at being 3rd most years.

That may be asking too much. They've already added a team that has never played a snap of football and two F?U's.

NMSU, Idaho, ULM, GaSo, and GSU should probably all drop to FCS or stayed as FCS programs.

Didn't we beat Terdledo in a bowl game a couple years back?

JMU is not taking the bid as they think they have a chance at CUSA. If JMU waits and Mo. St. takes it where does that leave JMU for the next 5+ years. Risky move.

Guess I just don't see why CUSA would lead us on. What do they gain from that?

Yeah, that way the Sun Belt could have been in the WAC's position which is way better... Funny thing is, I agree with you on NMSU and Ga State. As a JSU fan, I predict that Ga Southern will beat some teams and surprise a lot of people and become a dreaded FBS opponent. It's in their make-up down there!

Congrats on what y'all have going down there. The Cajuns have really improved the program the last several years, but your athletics program was on the same level we are all on a few years ago. All it takes is putting together a nice run like the Cajuns have recently.
