Exactly. They did it with App last year.

Just how did CUSA do that to Appy. Terry Holland and ECU were the only supporters of Appy to CUSA. NO other school president, AD or even SID supported APPY, NONE.

There was never a mention of Appy to CUSA, no mention of CUSA officals to visit the Appy campus. That's because Appy was NOT on the CUSA radar. Its almost a certain that Terry Holland's support of Appy is partially what forced him to "RETIRE" at ECU.

Forced TH to retire wow you don't have a clue.

Who is supporting JMU Mr. Insider...

App was on the radar as evidence by ECU pushing for us. Run along herd boy.

He pulled the football program out of the toilet and saw unprecedented levels of success while he was there. The basketball program is on the rise. The big east move (a pipe dream for years) happened after years of work. The facilities have greatly improved (he is beloved enough that the $24 million Olympic sports facility, built under his leadership, will be named after him).

Having said that, it really makes perfect sense that ECU forced him out because he pushed for a school to join a conference (a conference that ECU is not a part of anymore). With the greats like FIU and Charlotte sitting out there, they had to force him out for having the audacity to push for pathetic little App State. I don't know how you are missing that saint.

Congrats on what y'all have going down there. The Cajuns have really improved the program the last several years, but your athletics program was on the same level we are all on a few years ago. All it takes is putting together a nice run like the Cajuns have recently.

I sure hope you are talking about just football.

What about your basketball team? NMSU was up by 37 before they called the dogs off in that game last season.
You guys are much better than anyone in the Belt, but there is only so far your basketball can only account for so much as far as a whole program is concerned.

Bonowsky and the rest of the CUSA presidents gave support for JMU since they were approached at the 2012 Final Four. Three schools were approached in JMU, Delaware and ODU. All 3 schools said no. But 2 weeks later Wood Seling (ODU AD) contacted CUSA and started the process of getting ODU in CUSA.

So JMU has been approached, Appy has not. Appy will be in CUSA right after ULM gets an invite. Sometimes the truth cuts sharp.

I have read Appys board for a few years now. And until about 5 months ago when Appy finally realized they were not getting in CUSA, each and every Appy fan called the SB garbage and said that the SoCon was better, and they would rather stay there. And that's a FACT.

The SB contract doesn't end until 2020. So you have 7 years until you even have to worry about a new contract.

So you agree your BS comment about Holland is just that. Mr. Insider seems to think he knows a lot from 4th hand information.

JMU would be in CUSA if you what you say is true, nice try.

JMU is a carbon copy of App just in VA. Why would schools be so pro JMU and anti App?

Does Marsha not won't to be reminder exactly where their place is, truth does cut doesn't it.

I can't wait to play you again on an even playing field, it's going to be fun.

Jeez man, you sure do spend a lot of time on the internet. 12,000 posts on here, lord knows how many on the Marshall sites, plus you have time to troll the Sun Belt and App boards. Since you think so little of App, I can only imagine how many other boards you stalk. That is impressive (and by impressive I mean sad).

Do you realize how absurd you sound? Each and every App fan said Socon > Sunbelt, and that's a FACT! I'm an App fan and I never, at any point in time, said the SoCon was greater then the Sun Belt. So it's actually not a fact.

I will be the first to admit that most of our fan base preferred CUSA for awhile. I also know that every time CUSA came up, the first thing our fans would talk about is ECU. Sure, some of our fan base might still prefer CUSA. Still, when ECU left, the "CUSA or bust" screams from our fan base changed to "FBS or bust". CUSA is not what it was, and we are very very happy to be in the Sun Belt.

JMU has just changed presidents, the old JMU president said no FBS on his watch. You know like Grube at GSU who said no FBS on his watch.

Appy playing Marshall will not be until after 2020 probably. Our OCC schedule is full until 2016 and from whats been reported both 2017 and 2019 is full. The contracted games just haven't been announced. And if anything is indicative of our last few years, we will be signing H-H with a few MAC schools. The Ohio series will be renewed and I wouldn't be surprised if Toledo isn't added.

Outside of playing FIU in a bowl game, Marshall has only signed contracts to play 2 SB schools. We played Troy in the early 2000s and had a series signed with WKU that was suppose to take place in 2017 and 2018. We do not have a history of signing SB schools to play.

2020, I'll take the under.

Unless you're playing nine conference games you've got three openings in 2016, one in 2017, and two in 2018.

http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/conf-usa...g-herd.php

Mr. Insider what are these games that haven't been signed?

You didn't have a drivable Sun Belt opponent before either, now you do.

Hate to tell ya this, but a home and home with Marshall is already in the works.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Marshall's schedule for those years were full and the home and home that is unsigned is App?

To some extent this is correct. But once CUSA started pulling some of the SBC cellar dwellars, many of the App State fans started seeing that CUSA is not where they wanted App to be. Plus, one other thing, I didn't (see bold above), and there were others. There are some now that are a bit skeptical, but mostly because of the travel.

JMU has a much better shot than ASU ever did. We bring markets NOT already in CUSA.

Like it or not, UNCC blackballed you guys. CUSA doesn't double up on markets. That is why JMU/UD are in play.

That sounds like a good explanation for why the Sun Belt can surpass C-USA very quickly. Focusing on media market above all else is a mistake the Sun Belt only made with 1 invite.

Georgia State was as much about the opportunity to open up the state of Georgia for recruiting as it was for the media market. I see the value of media markets, but only in certain areas. Trying to pick up every large media market possible has never made sense to me.

Your full of hot air buddy. TH was not forced to resign. Even if he had been , asking for App State to join conference USA would not have caused it. TH is very well respected at ECU. As far as App State being a contender for ConF USA, they were for awhile. For whatever reasons UNCC got the call instead of them.

Hey Herd....if your source of information (by your own admission) is the message board, then just stop pretending that you know what discussion happened. Your post is proof that any fact repeated enough times, will eventually be accepted as truth. By the way....you cannot characterize "each and every" App fan as having ANY particular opinion on a given message.

I personally never thought the Sun Belt was "garbage" and stated on the MMB more than once that it was showing a positive trend in competitiveness, and with realignment, we needed to see how things developed. The concern for the vast majority of App fans was the geographic dispersion of the Sun Belt and the lack of a natural rival. The invitations of GaSo and GSU and the creation of East/West divisions has addressed those concerns. Yes...I/we hate seeing WKU leave, which is why App fans would love to have JMU join.

So, here's an idea....stop telling APP FANS what APP FANS think. Go back and join the herd, and let the individuals on this board have a discussion.

NMSU football budget is over 6 million. They aren't losing money. So no reason for NMSU to drop to FCS or football all together.
