If anyone was wondering August 20th. I'm a little confused, I'm not sure if the 20th is the first day of the lottery, or if it is when you can start purchasing tickets from Fifa or if it is the first day you pay for the tickets to enter into the lottery.

fifa ticket news

For 94 WC, I believe the lottery was held in june, but to enter the lottery you had to pay for the tickets up front.

Have to admit, I have *never* heard several of the alleged americanisms...

I didn't think I had either, until I'd read the article and then watched an MLS game.

Did anyone else catch one of Gus Johnson's early commentaries with an English color-guy (don't remember who) ... peppered with "well, what does that mean" ... "what do you mean by that?"

Mexico barely pulls out the win... Jamaica sucks bad, easily the worst team in this round... Those guys better hope nobody scores on them, because their mid and attack don't seem to know wtf they're doing. I'm not going to lie, it is comical watching them attack.

On one play I jokingly said... "watch, I bet you he's going to dribble the ball straight out of bounds," I was being sarcastic, so we just laughed... and sure enough, he makes his first touch, and starts dribbling the ball straight out of bounds... He didn't make it to the touch, because he fell flat on his face before he reached it.

My imagination ran wild watching Jamaica. I sat there thinking, these guys have played way over their heads (they have, considering size and resources relative to their peer group). I wondered what kind of backgrounds they came from ... and what kind of coaching they have had and currently have on their national team. beyond the back four, who defended admirably despite being maybe unconventional, I couldn't tell what the hell they were doing. That said, they had their chances to score (even if it was just numbers in the box and an open net) and in a way, Mexico is lucky to get their first win of the year. Ricketts putting in a decent cross from about 40 yards out was classic ... I just wish I'd seen the whole field to appreciate what he was doing there.

RE: OT: The New New Soccer Thread
you're right, they had their chances towards the end, but it all came off of set pieces on the corners, they have no build up in their attack.

They are the worst team in this hexagonal, this is the last round of qualifying for the world cup, and they just got called for 3 foul/bad throws in one game!!! I was expecting the ref to demonstrate to the Jamaicans how to properly throw it over their head, as their coach held their feet to the ground, like they do in U-6 games.

US gets all three points from Panama. Winning at Honduras is not a given, but if we do, we're in pretty good shape.

And WTF is up with Mexico?

We host Honduras next Tuesday - revenge time for the last Feb 3pm kickoff when they beat us with the width of the fields being questioned (shorter) and when was the last time they cut the grass (slowed us big time).

the sad thing about Mexico, had they played their games in the correct order, they'd be sitting with only 5 points and in 5th place

Catrachos are missing a few key players, so this will mark the second game in a row that the US faces a depleted side. Although depth is a question for the US in the WC, IMHO, it's actually a strength of the US in CONCACAF, so there should be no excuses for not cashing in the points next week. That would almost certainly mean the US is through to Brazil, even if they tank later this fall.

SoccerAmerica - Short-handed Catrachos set up base in San Jose 06/13/2013

http://www.socceramerica.com/article/521...-jose.html Wrote:Honduras arrived in San Jose to begin training for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against the USA in Sandy, Utah. San Jose is the MLS home to Catrachos Victor Bernardez, Marvin Chavez and Walter Martinez, though only Chavez will be headed on to Utah. Bernandez is suspended, leaving the Bicolor desperately thin in the middle of the backline, where it is already missing injured giant Maynor Figueroa. Center back Osman Chavez is also injured, leaving only David Velasquez, who started in the 2-0 win over Jamaica on Tuesday night, and Juan Pablo Montes available.

The 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, the ninth FIFA Confederations Cup, is an international association football tournament being held in Brazil in 2013, as a prelude to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The tournament is held from 15 to 30 June 2013. Brazil are the defending champions

FIFA 2013 Confederations Cup

Group A
Brazil
Japan
Mexico
Italy

Group B
Spain
Uruguay
Tahiti
Nigeria

A devastating Gold Cup defeat to archrivals Mexico means the US national team won't have a chance to reach their second straight FIFA Confederations Cup final, but you'll probably still want to tune in anyway.

With that in mind, below is the TV information for Saturday's opener and the remainder of the weekend. Enjoy.

SATURDAY
Brazil vs. Japan | 2:30 pm ET on ESPN and Univision

SUNDAY
Mexico vs. Italy | 2:30 pm ET on ESPN and Univision
Spain vs. Uruguay | 5:45 pm ET on ESPN and UniMas

MONDAY
Tahiti vs. Nigeria | 2:45 pm ET on ESPN, Univision and ESPN3.com
