This university's first president was not a pirate, though he was particularly fond of parrots.

WMU's first president, Dwight B. Waldo, was famous for walking around campus with his pet parrot "Jimmy Boy."

Which explains a hell of a lot!

Now we know the current coach is rowing his boat.

I THINK that Cal is next at #95.

It was between Cal and Minnesota; I went with Cal.

While the 12 PAC has some great programs (Oregon, Stanford, Oregon St & UCLA is rising) they are also the only AQ conference to have 2 teams listed in the countdown (Colorado & Cal). I'll bet WSU is coming up soon also.

Interesting, Rice just came off a bowl win and I believe they return their coaches and many players...

WSU probably is going to be rated higher than they would be otherwise because of Mike Leach. The more they get his players in and know their system, the more they'll rise.

I THINK that Minnesota is next at #92.

Minnesota scored 30+ back-to-back once in 2009 (Michigan St. and Illinois) and again once in 2012 (UNLV and New Hampshire) to start the season.

Quote:UP NEXT

— Who is No. 92?
This team has scored 30 or more points in back-to-back games only twice since the start of the 2009 season.

p.s.
Washington State was #93, but they didn't fit the clue.

Dean of Nursing Patricia Butterfield got her MS from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, which is associated with the University of Colorado at Denver, not UC-Boulder and she got her got her PhD from the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), which is different and separate university from the University of Oregon.

Quote:UP NEXT

The dean of this university's nursing department got her Master's and PhD from two schools in its conference.

"Akron should find a second victory against James Madison in September"

Should is the key word here. JMU won't show up at the rubber bowl shaking in their boots. No disrespect to Akron but a cellar dweller 1A vs. a solid 1-AA is 51/49.

Ya I have that one as a loss for Akron.

UAB is next at #91.

The tallest building this university's home city is operated was renamed in September 2010 following a merger.

The Wells Fargo Tower is the tallest building in Birmingham, Alabama at 454 feet (138 meters) tall.

The Wells Fargo Tower was previously known as the Wachovia Tower and was renamed in September 2010 when Wells Fargo completed its purchase of Wachovia.

p.s.
UConn not Minnesota is #92 but Minnesota fit the clue for #92 and UConn did not.

UConn scored 30+ in back-to-back games 3 times in 2009 (Baylor and Rhode Island), (Cincinnati and Notre Dame), (Notre Dame and Syracuse) and once in 2010 (Buffalo and Vanderbilt).

EDIT: I just read Paul's tidbit in the UConn article and even if he counts the three game stretch in 2009 as "one time" the clue still does not fit. It looks like Paul missed the 30 points against Baylor (9/19/09) and the 52 against Rhode Island (9-26-09). Paul's clue was "30 or more" not "more than 30" which would have made a difference. He could have also stipulated against FBS competition and that would have made the clue work as well.

The second Big Ten team is in. Purdue is next at #89.

This university's first football game came against a school with multiple Final Four berths in the last half-decade.

Butler was a Final Four participant twice in the last five years (2010 and 2011).

Purdue's first football game was a 48-6 LOSS to Butler University.

So JMU shows up at the Rubber Bowl and Zips get a win by forfeit?

RE: Paul Myerberg's 2013 College Football Countdown: #125 to #1
I just picked up my copy of Phil Steele's annual college football preview (best magazine out there in my opinion), and he rates the MAC standings as follows:

East
1. BG
2. OU
3. Buffalo
4. Kent State
5. Miami
6. Akron
7. UMass

West
1. NIU
2. Toledo
3. Ball State
4. WMU
5. CMU
6. EMU

FYI, in 2012 he put us as the 9th best conference, ahead of the MWC, C-USA, and Belt (independents count as a conference).
