Notre Dame transfer Kiel to arrive at UC this week

Highly rated quarterback Gunner Kiel plans to start classes at the University of Cincinnati this week, after transferring from Notre Dame.

Kiel’s father, Kip Kiel, said that Gunner is finishing his final exams at Notre Dame this week.

“He plans to come back, pack up his things and be at Cincinnati on Thursday,” Kip Kiel said. “He’s looking forward to getting started.”

Kiel (6-4, 210 pounds) was rated as the No. 1 prep quarterback in America by Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247Sports.com while in high school in Columbus, Ind.

Kiel signed with Notre Dame for the 2012 season, then decided to transfer. Kiel must sit out the 2013 football season as a transfer, then will have three years eligibility remaining (2014-16).

Kiel can practice with UC during the 2013 season but cannot travel or play in a game.

I have no idea who this guy is, but he says he knows some of the Kiel family and says that Gunner is nothing like how he is perceived by the media and fans. The only thing he said that concerns me is that he says Gunner is (I'm paraphrasing) quiet and doesn't like to be in the spotlight... I hope Gunner realizes that the QB is essentially the face of the team and that he will be in the spotlight much more than others, whether he likes it or not.
