Iowa and Iowa State
What happens to Iowa State should the B12 come apart some time in the future? From the message board chatter I've read, the most likely scenario seems to have ISU relegated to the MWC or some other lesser conference. In the event that could become a possibility, how hard would the University of Iowa fight to get Iowa State into the B1G? How much political clout does ISU have in Des Moines? How much clout does Iowa have in the B1G?

Not that much ~ not enough to convince the Big Ten to "expand" into a state that is already in its footprint.

What he said, unfortunately. Iowa had enough clout to probably say they preferred Nebraska over Missouri and considering that Iowa is the only State to border both of those States, that probably carried some weight. The new conference sponsored rivalry seems to be proof of that.
As far as getting in Iowa State though? Let's just say I worry for the Clones a little more now that the ACC figured itself out.

I think this doom and gloom stuff for the Big XII & ACC needs to end for now. The speculation was fun/crazy while it lasted. I just think its time for us all to move on and talk football again.

ISU would not get into the B1G Ten and U of Iowa would not help get ISU into the B1G conference if an opening even existed.
Iowa is a Hawkeye state, Iowa and the B1G don't need more corn state exposure.
Iowa State would find a home though. Under the hypothetical scenario of UT/OU leaving the Big XII, I would assume the Big XII would go out and replace lost members and pick off the best of the AAC and MWC to survive.
The front range schools, Boise State,Cincinnati, Houston all come to mind as replacements.

What Fireman said
They'd just rebuild and it'd look something like this:
Baylor
TCU
SMU
Houston
Tulsa
New Mexico
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
WVU
Memphis
Cincinatti

Didn't they add Nebraska? Nothing says corn like cornhusker.

Dude....it is a conference realignment board. This is what it is about. This is what people come here for when they do searches on the internet.
There are other places and forums for simple football talk. Just close the forum down then if you dont want anyone talking conference realignment anymore.

Here’s another BIG XII suggestion:
Big West Division: Baylor, Iowa St, Kansas, Kansas St, Houston, TCU
Big East Division: Cincinnati, ECU, UCF, USF, UCONN, WV
It could happen for the following reason:
“If the Big 12 does decide that they want to expand, it will have to focus efforts on members of the American Athletic Conference, the former Big East that will end up housing many former members of Conference USA.”

I'm pretty sure the good folks at Iowa would hold a canned food drive opening weekend if ISU was ever relegated to a midmajor league. I mean that is what you do to help those less fortunate.

ISU, Baylor, and KSU would likely be out of luck if the Big 12 ever folded. Their only options would be the AAC or the MWC.

If I were one of those three, I would just rebuild the Big XII and poach from the AAC/MWC/C-USA. I'm pretty sure with an AAU member (ISU), a two-sport standout (K-State), and a classical southern private (Baylor) that you could pull a few schools to make a sustainable 8-team league. There are about 6-8 schools that would join up tomorrow if offered.

Actually, I'd rather him not close the forum down, but I agree with the sentiment.

Exactly ~ that's how it would roll, if there had been enough changes between now and the time the GOR expires to lead to the Pac-12 raiding four to get to the Pac-16. The remaining six would cherry pick from the Group of Five conferences and build a Best of the Rest "Group of Six" conference.

Yes, those of you who only care about the Major FBS conferences should accept that Major Conference realignment is on the back burner, and toddle along, leaving the conference realignment board for discussions about which FCS school the Sunbelt is going to invite up, whether the MAC goes up to 14 or back down to 12, who the New Big East adds to go to 12, and how the aftershocks of the New Big East realignment spreads through the Division 1 non-football subdivision.

RE: Iowa and Iowa State
I don't have the power to shut this particular forum down and if I could, I wouldn't. This particular board has a nice influx of B12, B1G, and SEC fans that wouldn't be here if it wasn't for realignment.
Outside of the aftershocks happening from the Sun Belt and Big East to the 1AA ranks are still going on; Realignment is over till at least the early to mid 2020's. I was only saying that it feels like some wish to see the Big XII fade away and others wish to see the ACC fade away. We just saw the Big East go into the sun set and its not fun to see at all. You have programs like USF, UConn, and Cincinnati that invested millions upon millions, and did nothing wrong to be left behind other than location, academia, or tradition. People wishing the same on a Iowa State, Baylor, WVU, TCU, Wake Forest, Boston College, Pitt, Syracuse, and others just drive me insane. I choose to not read this board for this reason. I just can't fathom why people choose to be in the same repeated arguments over and over again. And to think you'll be having the same arguments for another 8/9 years boggles my mind. And on 2nd thought, have at it. At some point you'll have to realize that this chatter is counter-productive.

If the Big XII loses four teams they have plenty of options before they get to ECU. I see Houston, BYU, Cincy, UConn, USF, UCF, Temple, UNLV, Memphis all above ECU.
