Baseball is a much tougher call, but I will stand by the fact that we play so well at home and we are the best hitting team in the league and have solid pitching. It will be tough, but Tigue Moore will be very hostile and the Cajuns will feed off of that! We may win the regular season title as well.

This is why I don't talk smack before something happens.

Louisiana barely won yesterday and lost today. Nerissa Meyers is 0-6 in the tournament.

LOL I'm laughing at this so much because of how this thread started out.

I never thought that there would only be on hit in this game. As for Nerissa Meyers, she has had success against some very good pitchers so I would not knock her. Because of her injury USA's shortstop earned first team Sun Belt this year. Had she been healthy all season it wouldn't have been close. Congrates to USA, let's see what happens the rest of the way.

She has presided over 5 of them, including four of the last five seasons (the one winning season was a 17-15).

Attendance has taken a nose dive, even counting the new arena.

We were (notice the past tense) national players, consistently in the top ten from the programs founding in the mid-70's to the early '90's, which is a helluva run. UCLA hired away our coach, Lisa Love, and we had been regional powers, but not national as we once (notice the past tense again) were. Our current coach has presided over a tenure where we aren't even that.

As far as the PAC-10 or Texas comment, in the NCAA volleyball tournament, UTA has wins over Texas, Arizona State, Kentucky, North Carolina, LSU and Pepperdine. We were (again, please take not of the tense) every bit as good in volleyball as ya'll are in softball.

The ironic thing about this peeing contest was ya'll got offended when I brought up volleyball as an example to give your program praise. Someone from Arkansas State said he couldn't see the allure of softball, ya'll said part of it was winning. I agreed, giving our example. Our volleyball program was (past tense, you see) every bit what your softball program was. After football, it was the second most attended sport on campus. Even up until a decade or so, it still was, outdrawing softball, baseball and women's basketball. Many old-timers are very upset with our program's direction, same as ya'll would be if you hit such a mediocrity stretch.

Seriously, you guys are the most insecure fans I have ever seen at any level. I was defending and admiring your softball program and then ya'll have to get all crazy. Seriously, you won two low-level bowl games after one season above .500 in the previous 15 seasons and one season above 7 wins since 1970. Your softball team is special, baseball has a good run, but nothing consistent like your softball team but the rest of your programs are average at best overall, just like the rest of the SBC at this point.

I mean Jesus, you get passed over for a C-USA invite and are all upset because you think you are such an awesome mid-major. You aren't a Gonzaga, Cal St-Fullerton or Pepperdine. Win a national championship in something, (your softball team has one top four finish, just like our volleyball) and maybe proceed from there. Look at the Bubas Cup, ya'll are 8th out of 12, just ahead of Georgia State, who isn't eligible for half the sports. And I don't give a rat's A if you don't care about those sports. They are beating you, end of story. When the rest of their teams arrive next year, you may finish ahead of Monroe, Troy and Southern, cause you ain't beating us or Texas State.

I'd call them mediocre but still competitive. I'm anxious to see if HMF can get the team over the hump in the coming years because they tend to hover around .500.

You reap what you sow. I didn't start this. I started out by praising the support the softball team got by citing a fairly close example at UTA. Then the douchtastic turn this thread took was in response to that.

Your volleyball team has had seven winning seasons since 1991, of which three of those were one-game over .500. I stand by my statement.

Now, I don't like thread derailments, so I'll return it to the conference tournament with one last thought. We are all in this together. When the conference does well, we all do well. Whether it is two teams in volleyball, as was the case for six years, or in softball, as with USA and your softball team, we all benefit. However, in the brief time I have been on this forum, the only teams fans that seem to be of a different mind is ULL's. Even MTSU and WKU fans are more supportive of the Sun Belt than ya'll. And that is sad.

Let me spell this out for you since you continue to play this freaking fantasy game. What your program has done in the 1970’s or 1990’s carries very little relevance today. You are not playing some fantasy video game were you plug in the stats of your powerful volleyball team of the 70’s against the top Sun Belt programs today and project how the UTA team of 2013 will finish in the conference. There are no athletes playing freaking volleyball in your program today from your great teams of the 70’s. To continuously come back to this thread and explain how your volleyball program was great and how you will compete against the Sun Belt based upon what those teams accomplished is freaking idiotic at best.

Secondly, in the realm of female college sports today volleyball is hardly the icon it was in the 70’s, 80’s or even the 90’s. In terms of what national attention it brings to a conference, it ranks below basketball and softball today and certainly no more than woman’s soccer which increases in popularity every year. Regardless of how much our volleyball program sucks, your vaunted volleyball program carries as much weight as women’s tennis, track & field, bowling, gymnastics or swimming to a conference. In fact, I’m sure some could make an argument that several of the after mentioned women sports carry more relevance then volleyball today. The bottom-line, very few people outside the 50 or so that attend volleyball games on campus give a crap about the sport and certainly nowhere near the numbers for softball today.

Memo, UTA hasn’t accomplished jack in this conference and until they do you can shelve those historical stats and continue to play your video games of Ultimate NCAA Volleyball 2013!

Good win by South Al. With that being said, how can an umpire make a game changing call when he admitadly did not see the play? The umpire admitted that he did not see Drahiem miss 1st base on a stand up double but called her out on appeal because the coach from South Al appealed and said she missed the bag.

Great pitching by both pitchers was the story today. Congrats.

Now we just have to do it from the 2nd chance bracket.

UL/Louisiana/Ragin' Cajuns (not Louisiana-Lafayette, stop being a disrespectful douche) has had some down years in women's volleyball, but the program in its current state is NOT god-awful.

Memo, UTA hasn’t accomplished jack in this conference and until they do you can shelve those historical stats and continue to play your video games of Ultimate NCAA Volleyball 2013!

you are a damn fool if you think that volleyball does not get the same amount of coverage as softball. or the similar attendance. as before stated volleyball's season is much more crowded on tv than is softball...

Look up the numbers and television coverage. The attendance numbers aren't close in recent years. But please tell me about the times Western Kentucky Volleyball was on national television? I can tell you about UL Softball being on national television in 5 different Softball World Series multiple times. Sounds like some fool needs to get out of the women's gym more often.

Your volleyball team has had seven winning seasons since 1991, of which three of those were one-game over .500. I stand by my statement.

UL's volleyball record over 37 seasons is 609-656 for a .481 winning percentage. They had some pretty bad years, some years at or around .500, and then obviously some pretty decent ones or their 37 year average would be a bit lower than .481. But to me all of that is pretty irrelevant when talking about the current state of the program. That is what we're talking about right?

In the past three years the team has gone 17-16, 14-18, and 16-16. I'm sorry, but in the current state that is not god-awful as you claim. Now like I said previously, they have had some really bad years, but the current coach has gotten them somewhat competitive again. For reference during a 7 season lull from 2003-2009, the highest win total was 9. So if you stand by your statement that the team in its current state is god-awful then you're ignoring all sense of logic for the sake of trying to win an argument, which just makes you look petty.

Great pitching by both pitchers was the story today. Congrats.

Now we just have to do it from the 2nd chance bracket.

1. We like South Al as much as you like ULL.
2. I would think the first base umpire got a good view.
3. It was a classic game between two juggernauts. I was impressed with Jordan Wallace especially after throwing 176 pitches the day before.

None of them could say that they actually seen Drahiem miss the base. Having said that, the one call did not cost the Cajuns the game. Campbell pitched a terrific game and no hit the Cajuns. End of story.

1. Come again? I never use ULL on this board. I stopped using ULL long ago. In the past I was using Louisiana-Lafayette. I've recently started using Louisiana. I'll start using "The University of Louisiana @ Lafayette" if it comes down to it.
2. Where is his quote? To whom did he say that to? Why would any umpire say that?
3. South Alabama is no longer up and coming. We won the tournament last year and might repeat. We are ranked in the top 20 in the country. Up and coming? No. We're here.

That loss may have finally woke the team up. Killing FAU at this point in the 2nd up 5-0.

I don't see the relevance of the first point to the conversation. The second one is debatable as it took an appeal from the USA dugout to get the runner called out. That tells me the first base ump wasn't watching the runner's feet. And it was a classic game. I enjoyed it. Although I won't crown USA a juggernaut yet. Some other SBC schools have had good runs, such as Torina and FIU a while back, but couldn't always sustain the success. But you guys have had damn good ball clubs the last two years and probably will next year. Campbell is a junior correct?

Who knows, maybe we'll get replay in softball one day. I find it hard to believe that the ump would rely on an opposing coach to make the call at first base though, much less admit it.
