Yeah, like the bad guys that did this used a legal registered weapon. Remind me, what would a background check have done to stop this. Also, way too politicize a tragedy, you're handlers will be proud.

They must have had special guns, mine can't even move on their own. Each and every one of them just sits there, I may have to have them checked out.

I need to? You're the one making inane comments about the efficacy of background checks on criminals who don't use legally registered weapons.

What's telling is your concentration on gun control issues rather than offers of condolences. You don't appear to care that this young mans life was snuffed out by gang bangers who would find a weapon by any means regardless of the availability of guns but rather only the opportunity it presents to sensationalize the issue.

This thread should have been moved to the Pol/Rel forum with post #9, the one that politicized it.

My anger at the waste of human life at the hands of punks who have guns that SOMEONE sold them is a position I hold due to years of law enforcement. All guns are stolen right? They just all magically appear in a bad guy's possession? No, some @$$hole somewhere obtained the guns by some illegal manner and sold them to punks and the innocent die.

I have no problem with your guns. I grew up in a family of hunters and policemen and guns were very present in my life. I just don't have the stomach for senseless murder.

Now you're taking inspiration from Will Ferrell??

And the bolded part supports my position more so than your own. What good would (expanded) background checks have done this young man, explain it to me, I'm all ears, seriously. I am serious too, I'm not being rude, explain it to me.

I know a TON of law enforcement officials, from very high positions within SCSD to traffic cops in Memphis to DEA agents and the vast majority of them don't support gun control measures that infringe on the 2nd Amendment. I know that means little except as a comment on my own experiences.

FTR, I agree with your sentiments about senseless murders - as if there are are sensible ones - but I fail to see how expanded background checks would have likely prevented this.

And I also thank you for your own service, I really do, I have the utmost respect for law enforcement. It may not be quite the same but my Dad was an MP his entire 24 year military career.

Finally, I apologize for being rude to you.

Let's have a beer next time I'm in Memphis or before a Tiger game. I don't consider you rude at all. It's a complicated subject that lawyers, congress or law enforcement can't figure out or agree on. My grandfather was an MP but mostly marched through Normandy all the way through the Battle of the Bulge and came home to serve as a policeman, detective and sheriff for 40 years and introduced three knot heads (me and my bros) to hunting, gun safety and most of the common sense I possess today. Appreciate your Dad's service as well.

Oh, the Will Ferrell thing I found funny, that's all. If you think about it.
