Yeah, 5 runs on 13 hits, 5 walks, and 1 HBP doesn't make for many comfortable 9th innings. Even against UAB.

RE: Rice vs UAB (Saturday game)
B9: Zech stays in to close it out. Owls 3 outs away. But UAB one swing away from tying it up.
First batter K's!! Big out for Zech! 1 down, 2 to go.
Next batter K's!! Way to go!! 2 down, 1 to go! 3 straight K's for Zech.
FINISH THEM!!
Third batter: Zech gets 2 strikes on him. 1-2 pitch... In play... To right field... Ratt makes the catch!!
OWLS WIN! OWLS WIN!! 5-4!!

LaMonde will bring it home. No worries SmackDaddy.

Looks as if coach had a serious talk with LeMond between innings. He looks completely different this inning.

Wow, just looked at the CUSA standings, and I think they're screwed up. They have ECU at 10-7 and USM at 13-7. I'm pretty sure USM is at 14-6 and ECU's at 9-8. Either way, we're behind UCF and USM; just don't know by how much. Got a lot of work to do still, starting with tomorrow. Good job and good luck, Owls.

We're even with UCF in the loss column and one behind USM in the loss column. We need to win tomorrow, beat Memphis at least 2 of 3 next weekend and then close out the regular season with a sweep of Marshall.
Great, great game by Jordan Stephens tonight-- one of his 3 or 4 best in his career at Rice. He certainly didn't deserve the final 2 earned runs charge against him. And as inefficient as our offense continues to be, unlike last night, we were just snake bit today-- with both Aquino and Stringer each lining into inning-ending double plays with multiple runners in scoring position.
