2014-15 the Rose would NOT have had Oregon. They have said that the #1/2 teams will not be at a disadvantage like that.

Also got to remember the Pac 12 champ was Stanford, and not Oregon.

What disadvantage? They're going to try not to ship teams across the country as much as possible. Putting Alabama/Florida in the Rose over ND/Oregon would not happen. About the only thing I could conceivably see is maybe putting Florida vs Notre Dame and Oregon vs Alabama, but that doesn't help either.

Having the #1 team play at the #4 team's home bowl is a disadvantage. I think like you said it'd be Florida vs Nore Dame in the Rose and Oregon vs Alabama in the Sugar.

Even though the configurations changed, the participants did not.

That is why the playoff will expand to 8 teams by 2020.

1. SEC Champ
2. Big 10 Champ
3. Pac 12 Champ
4. Big 12 Champ
5. ACC Champ
6. AAC Champ
7. SEC runner up
8. Highest rated (BIG 10/PAC 12/BIG 12) runner up.

That will make everyone happy (almost) until 2026 when it will change to all conference champs.

1. SEC Champ
2. Big 10 Champ
3. Pac 12 Champ
4. Big 12 Champ
5. ACC Champ
6. AAC Champ
7. Highest rated (CUSA/MAC/SBC) Champion.
8. 2nd Highest rated (CUSA/MAC/SBC) Champion.

This makes it a defacto 4 round playoff.

1st round - Conference Championship Game - 16 teams - Thanksgiving weekend

2nd round - (seeded matchup) - 8 teams - third Saturday in December.

3rd round - (seeded matchup) - 4 teams - December 31st and January 1st.

4th round - National Championship - 2 teams - between January 12th and 14th

Everybody is happy (almost). 03-cloud9

Going to be interesting to see how the committee works. Could get political some years...
