Exactly...plus it shared revenue...the fans "may" complain but I doubt the AD's will. Thios is extremely fair and really I am kind of surprised ND agreed to this with the way some of their alums feel about conferences.

That should tell you how much ND wanted to remain independent.

"Starting in the 2014 season -- and coinciding with the new college football playoff -- Notre Dame could step over an ACC team and take its place in one of the non-BCS bowls if its record is better than, equal to or within one win of the ACC team or ranked higher in the BCS standings. Notre Dame would share in the revenues if selected to any of those bowls, and get an expenses allowance. If Notre Dame is picked for a BCS game, it would keep its revenues from that appearance. "

I was getting ready to post this, the ACC has one hellva deal with Notre Dame.

They get to keep any and all of the Playoff $$$$/Top Tier Bowl $$$$-(Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Cotton Bowl or Peach Bowl) which they should but they share the revenue for something like the Gator Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl or Capitol One Bowl since it comes from an actual ACC/ND Bowl. There should be no complaints from any ACC Member with this deal.

The ACC loses no $$$ from this deal and the Irish has a guaranteed revenue stream from Bowls even in years they are not Bowl Eligible. 04-cheers

I'm sure there is going to be a lot of complaining from schools feeling Notre Dame knocked them down (it's inevitable), but I agree. As far as non-BCS bowls go, Notre Dame is essentially an ACC member. The conference gets the money for the appearance and its distributed from there. It will suck occasionally for a school or two, but that's no different than the bowls liking some schools more than others now (Florida State in Gator Bowl a few years ago for example) in all likihood, the bowl line-up is better with the bowls knowing Notre Dame will be part of the package (if the ACC gets a partial spot in the Citrus, I'd say this was definitely a help).

I see it more as a business arrangement....they don't compete for the ACC Football Title...they play 5 Games against the ACC yet they still have freedom to schedule 7 Games of their chosing-(USC, Navy, Stanford & Michigan State) traditional rivals.

The ACC Champion worst case is going to the Orange Bowl & doesn't have to worry about ND taking that slot-(if anything ND could be the opponent)
