Tra'Von Chapman
After shunning his dad's team I always thought we'd have a chance to get him in here as a transfer. That may soon be possible given his latest news.

I don't think there is a chance of him coming to Kent now that his dad is no longer a coach here. He's not even from Kent, he transferred here his junior year of high school. He would be a good player to have, but after this I think they would pass anyways.

If Reardon plays the season like he did the spring game we are set for the next 3 years at qb. So I see no reason to take a chance on the guy.

Four years actually. He took a red shirt last year. 04-cheers

I watched him and came away very impressed. Several weeks ago, I met Coach Haynes at one of our local restaurants and ask specifically how the QB position was developing. He had a look of great confidence and said we are fine at QB. It will not be a weakness. Then I saw what he meant.

Just released from Pitt, does he transfer to KSU? Why release him now when the case is old news? They could've released him months ago and given him time to land on his feet and not start looking as school is starting everywhere.

PH, I agree the timing is very strange. Does anyone know if his Dad is still coaching anywhere? I would bet Kent and his Dad's current school (if he's coaching) would be his top two choices. I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up at Purdue either. Where ever he goes, he can't afford to screw up again.

They could've cut ties back in April, nothing between then and now changed as far as I know, so the timing is inexcusable. I also thought Purdue too, but wherever he goes he better get on campus ASAP, maybe our proximity works in our favor. He'll sit this season out as a transfer but still have all 4 years left to play.

I agree that if Pitt were going to cut ties due to his legal problems, they should have done so earlier. But is that why Pitt cut ties, or did something else happen? Can see a scenario were TraVon was told no more chances, then violated a team rule. It's the only plausible explanation for the timing.

Bet Akron has already been in touch. The Zips are DESPERATE to Win Two for the Roo. Bowden is building a team full of wayward transfers. Chapman would fit right in.

That's what I figured when I saw the news, but based on his parents reaction I don't think so. Seems Pitt just drug their feet and gave no consideration to the youngster to have a chance to look elsewhere. What really complicates this all is that the kid finished high school early and enrolled in January. Had he finished his schooling on time and readied for a fall admission he could sit in a prep school this year, but being enrolled at Pitt screws that all up, he must sit wherever he transfers to.

If it is true that Pitt reacted late, very bad form on their part.

Here's a quote from Chapman's dad.

“He did something wrong; don't get me wrong,” Jemison said. “He made a bad decision.
“But don't string the kid out. The same information they had when he first went to the hearing (July 29) is the same information they have now. If they are going to make this decision, they could have made it three weeks ago.”

Looks like Paul Chryst/staff is having issues keeping their skill position players/recruits @ Pitt recently, with Chapman being released and before that the big RB who is now @ West Virginia.

RE: Tra'Von Chapman
It's actually bigger than Chapman or even Chryst. Cutting ties with him when you're battling a lawsuit filed by a coach for being dismissed makes sen$e.
