RE: NCAA Considers Changes in Basketball Rules
I do not understand why people think higher scoring games = more entertaining. Faster pace games usually mean sloppier games. What the NCAA (and NBA) needs to do is limit the # of timeouts that can be used in the final minute. Having each team call 3-4 TOs in the final minute just ruins the game (however, it is worse in the NBA since a TO advances the ball past half-court - I hope the NCAA NEVER goes to that rule. I hate that rule).

Talk about a made for TV rule. Punish one team's effort by giving the ball to the other team 4 seconds closer to the hoop for the sole purpose of more last second wins. I'm with you- awful!

I'd be ok with giving them the ball at the same spot, but on the other side of half court. But don't give it to them where they don't even have to work to get a shot off. The end of close NBA games are horrible. You'd think NBA players are good enough to play without needing to call 4 TOs in the last :30-:45.

A five second change in shot clock will not help much. The way that referees interpret contact has to change. Offensive players get fouled almost every possession today. It's the only way to be successful defending the size and quickness on the court. Want more offense, call enough fouls that it hurts a team defensively. They will adjust.

By the same token I get tired of seeing the offensive guy get away with forearm shivers above the three point line. Contact begets contact-refs need to call that AND clean up the inside defensive play.

Because the slop right now is close to being unwatchable. The NCAA Tournament was brutal because so many teams were playing a "defense" that consisted of hacking the other team, knowing that the refs will not call a foul on every possession.

One reason I prefer the NBA. They hack every play without any shame and still score a lot more.
