RE: Rice vs. Lamar (Wednesday Game)
Wow! With only one out and Lamar runners on the corners, the OG pulls John Simms for...

(wait for it)...

(wait for it)...

HOLT McNAIR!!

Yes, that's right, we have a Holt McNair sighting. He of the 0.2 innings pitched all season. This is exciting! Go, Holt!

I wish McNair has been used more, but to bring him in now when he's seen so little action all year...and hasn't pitched competitively in a month? John should have been out of this inning with a double play before the error.

Error on an easy double play ball. Now McNair in for Simms. Good choice with all the lefties in Lamar's lineup.

Has he been hurt perhaps? Maybe he's finally healthy now. It's not like we couldn't use another left handed pitcher in the pen.

Aquino doubles to leadoff B7, and now every Owl has gotten at least one hit (save #'s 8 and 9, Stainback and Ewing). Way to shed that oxidization, Rice!

+1000. Holt promptly induces an inning-ending doubleplay. Tough innin for Big John, as all he did was throw 3 ground balls. Boy, it sure would be a big jolt to our bullpen if Holt can prove he's ready to play a major role as a much-needed situational lefty.

Pitcher #6 for Lamar-- seldom used Fr RHP Will Hibbs (8.38 ERA, 9.2 IP, 18 hits, 4 BBs, 7 Ks). We should be able to clobber this guy...
Aquino leadoff double into the gap!
Hoelscher grounds to 2B, advancing Aquino to 3B with one out. Just put the ball in play here...
Pitcher #7, Fr LHP Travis Moore (4.50 ERA, 18.0 IP, 15 hits, 9 BBs, 18 Ks)...
Cook strike out. Ugh. Second time we've done that with a runner on 3B and only one out.
Perrott flied out to LF.
Second time we've wasted a leadoff double.

Good guys lead 6-1 heading to the top of the eighth inning.

As expected, now it's Jordan Stephen's turn to shake the rust off prior to his Saturday start.

RE: Rice vs. Lamar (Wednesday Game)
Sadly, Lamar inserts a pinch-hitter for their second baseman, Andrew Dewey, thus ending Lamar's fun 2B-SS tandem of Dewey-Bumpers.

I'm also a fan of tonight's SS competition: Ford-Bumpers

As well as the game's slightly-disgusting 2B rivalry: Dewey-Stringer

Carry on.

Jordan allowed a baserunner on an E-5, but stranded him at 1B (strikeoutK, two fly balls).

Pitcher #7, Lamar's Sr RHP closer, Ben Coram (1.08 ERA, 1-0, 2 saves, 16.2 IP, 7 BBs, 13 Ks)...
Stainback hit by pitch.
Teykl pinch hit for Ewing....and flied out to RF.
Byrd struck out.
Stringer popped up to 3B.

Good guys take a 6-1 lead into the top of the ninth inning.

And here comes our closer for the 9th! The OG sets up his Lemond-aid Stand at the mound; 3 outs to a W and a nice RPI bump. Do it to it, Owls!
